Have you heard of a dragon whose tail releases a spray of explosive slime? Or a dragon that hunts with noxious fumes? Or one that vomits spires of super-heated glass? Across various myths and cultures, dragons have taken on many forms. But few are more fearsome than the terrors that lurk within the pages of the Dragonslayer Codex — a worldbuilding project from the brilliant imagination of artist Sawyer Lee.

The volume is written as a survival guide to the world’s most dangerous dragons, explaining their abilities, behavior, and how to slay them if necessary. But be warned: many of these scaly tyrants will not go down without a fight. So, for this entry into the archive, we’ll learn critical things about each species that can mean the difference between survival and searing flames.

Now, let’s dive into the burned pages, and discover the secrets of the Dragonslayer Codex…

the sicklemouths are such a funny dragon to me, they literally fight with their chins and can even outwit human fencers. Truly a chivalrous dragon.

I like the musculature of the dragons, they feel so potent and powerful. Unlike other dragon designs, these creatures are structured as more bulky and less aerodynamic, a fitting evolution to the hardy environment this world is set in

I love the combination of terrifying mythical feats and behaviors that are based in real life, it’s such a cool detail.
  • This feels like a version of How to Train your dragon made for adults, which is everything I’ve ever wanted
  • @TheGreatAuk
Dragons are so cool, glad there's a lot of dragon related projects being made!
  • I like to imagine that this man bends reality itself and travels to different universes for videos
  • I like when we speak and there is creatures like the non-dragons species in this video. That, in a spec evo project centered around a particular subject lifeforms, unrelated species to the targeted animals are also described and showned. That give always a more vast and constructed world vibe, and is good to see that outside the main subject, there others things to speak about !
  • Would be interesting to see you take a stab at the biology of Monster Hunter's elder dragons.
  • I would love a video of how to train your dragon dragons. Dream works have kind of already done this but that was quite a long time ago and new dragons have been released since then

I like these kaiju-style killer dragons that are just ridiculously monstrous and dangerous. The more grounded realistic ones like VikasRao's Draconology are great, but I love a good "end boss" dragon.
  • I've been following Lee for a while now, he's a super imaginative Artist. I'm glad he's finally getting attention!
  • @nelly5954
Please do a Part 2 of Draconology! Vikasrao is constantly updating it with way more detail, and new species like unicorns, giants and mermaids!
  • I absolutely love this project, I’ve seen comparisons to Dragonology and How to Train Your Dragon in the comments but I couldn’t help to notice it shares a lot in common with the Monster Hunter franchise. Even then, it has set up a world all its own with a distinct aesthetic that I can’t wait to see more of
  • Man these dragons just gives me the urge to hunt them and then craft badass weapons and armors off of their body. just imagine these guys in a new MH series and their move sets.
  • @GallowglassVT
I love how alien the dragons look when compared to a lot of designs. Also, scientifically, how could you get a six-limbed dragon without bipassing tetrapod evolution entirely? I had an idea that they could develop wings via heat regulating sails that eventually become fully-functioning wings, but I'm not so sure.
  • Realizing I’m in a small discord server with this dude is crazy. His art style is so recognizable
  • @ErickHerreraW
I would really love a live-action or animation series based of this unique mitology , it will be sooo coool
  • @Vaul.
It’s interesting how projectile weapons seemingly were never invented by humans in this world
