Generally speaking, they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. But in a highly competitive industry such as hip-hop where every last shred of your individuality is paramount to your success, the notion of someone stealing your style, cadence, flow or concepts, can be seen as one of the greatest crimes a rapper can commit.

  • Lil wayne definitely did influenced a whole generation including Future, Young Thug and the Lil's
  • "People don't buy music in this day and age, they buy the brand."
  • @AcidRant1
Snoops Migo flow is always hilarious
  • I think 95% of "copies" are just people who were influenced by the people they grew up listening to. When they set out to make music they're not even thinking about their influences, they're just making something they want to hear. Also Logic made a really good point that a rapper's sound is not just their sound, it's the people who produce the music too. People like Terrace Martin and Thundercat are incredible artists - if I'm trying to make something amazing am I just gonna avoid working with them so people don't say I sound like Kendrick? No way bruh.
  • These are great topics, but this channel relies too much on the opinions of Fantano, Shawn Cee, and Dj Akademiks. Using their opinions as proof isn't a compeling argument.

People always leave the second half of the quote off. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” Inspiration and copy paste behavior is totally different. Great video, I’m glad someone’s speaking on it
  • @Janoodle
Mario Judah and yeat being carti’s kids is accurately hilarious 😂
  • @J_Sovereign
Shawn Cee the only one who can roast you viscously using a professional voice 😂😂😂😂😂
  • @rogue9230
That's why mainstream hip hop has been run into the ground in the 2020s decade and the underground been dominating
  • @Kiki-xx3fj
What drives me crazy is when the fans of these clone rappers start saying they’re better than the original 😵
  • It's not just Hip hop/Rap. It's rock, soul, jazz, Mexican music, pop every musician copies.
  • @televszn
The worst part about hip hop is the lack of hop, way too much hip
  • Most rappers go through a phase in which they wear their influences heavily. If you come across Kendrick’s old music when he was K Dot, the Lil Wayne & Eminem influence is strong, he just had time to find his own lane before he became well known.
  • @PsykoGrimmy
They showed a pic of Fake Drake instead of the real one, I'm dead.

"bad artists copy, good artists steal" - Picasso
  • Having a Morgan and Morgan ad is so funny and the number one way to make your channel feel like it should be playing on a TV in a waiting room at the dentist
  • @midnight9178
I feel like NF was influenced by Eminem but he has his own sound and style of music. He covers different subject matter, with different flows and completely different bars.
  • I'm proud to have been a teenager in the 90s. When we went to buy albums we didn't know what to expect because each artist made it a point of honor to have their own style and their own sound. Today I feel like I always hear the same thing and the number of albums that come out every day is insane
