BIG Rig Travel Days // WHY can't we move? // We NEED HELP! // RV Fulltime // RV Lifestyle

Published 2023-01-05
Trying to get out of our daughter's driveway so we can head west for some warranty work, doctors' appointments and a few projects that need to be completed. No air, so no brakes which means that we aren't moving anytime soon.
Got on the phone with Coachnet, Love's Mobile Truck Repair and the local semi-truck parts distributor (FleetPride) to try and diagnose the issue and repair it.
Luckily, the weather was beautiful, and we were assisted by some very helpful people.

I get my music from:
Epidemicsound.com

If I had an Amazon link, it would be here!

We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.

Vehicles:
2016 Volvo VNL780 "Voyager"
2016 Smart fortwo "Pathfinder"
2019 SpaceCraft Custom built, designed semi-trailer 5th wheel "Orion"
2023 Thor Magnitude XG32 Class C "Curiosity"
2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"

Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL

We are not sponsored by Whataburger but I do enjoy them anytime I can get my hands on one. They used to be just out of Texas but they have expanded to Kansas City, Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Tallahassee, Pensacola and Tennessee just to name a few other areas.

What a chipper couple. Just came across this channel and these two already convinced me to subscribe. It's good to see such a happy couple. Their attitude is conducive to peaceful living. Clearly they love each other and more importantly enjoy each others company. Beautiful rig. And glad to see them enjoying the fruits of their years of labor. Travel safe. 👍👍👍

I've been waiting for this video to come out. Ha ha. I'm glad we figured out the problem. I'm sorry I got the two lines swapped when I hooked them back up. Rookie's mistake, and I was definitely a rookie working on this trialer for sure. I'm glad I could get someone out to you right away, and you weren't down for days. That mistake won't happen again, that's for sure. Thanks for the learning experience. You guys are great, safe travels.

This is my first time watching your channel. I’ve been RVing since the 1970s and no matter what you’re driving you’ll eventually have to do hands on repairs.
  • The main cause of all these problems is if the lines you hook up needs to. Be covered while un hooked. Trash in these new computerized air systems will shut you down. Case in point.
  • just a little late but Happy New Year. Thank you for your doing your U Tube. From Kitchener Ontario Canada .Will rian and no snow but loooking for five feet would be nice no skiing this year as today.. You keep in the nice warm . It just at 38 f

Dave, that's called a diverter valve. The reason they fail is because they have a small rubber disc in them. Once the start blowing air like it was you have to replace them. Most truck shops have them as they are standard equipment on trucks and trailers. There just a royal pain in the back side to change out. Also do a complete brake check. I see you have disc brakes on the trailer. But on the truck you have drums on the driver's. As for your steering axle you could have either drums or disc. While your at it check you wheel bearing oil on the steering since you have covers. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"
  • You guys are a hoot! 🤣 Loved listening to you. Looking forward to more vids. 😊

I don't know if you guys know or not but if you drain your air tanks every week or so from Voyager you'd have less dust and dirt and corrosion in there Plus you can let out the water that could cause your brakes to fail. Need to do it more often when it's wet so like rain season or fall and winter as well. Just to save you guys from having to do all that again! Im a truck driver I'm just trying to give you a pro tip! Have fun and keep the shiny side up drivers!

So as a few have mentioned cover the air line connections when not in use. Also the truck most likely has a air dryer. Have that serviced. I couple times during the year, I add a teaspoon of airline oil or ATF to the airline that comes off the compressor and also to the supply line to the trailer. If the truck is equipped with a dryer than add to the out put line from the dryer. This will keep all those rubber seals working. Safe travels
