I decided to add this: When buying a quality suit, they will usually come with a small square of fabric made from the suit with a button on it. A lot of people think it's for mending a tear and a spare button. That's not its real purpose. Its real purpose is so the dry cleaner can test the chemicals they are going to use to clean it to make sure it doesn't damage the fabric, stitching, or buttons. Funny random fact that just seemed fitting in a video like this. Just another sign of quality.

Practice wearing the suit, great tip. No one wants to be George Castanza when he found the great fitting suit and noticed the pants made noise when he walked when finally wearing it!

The advice about practicing wearing the suit is spot on. I have a friend who has a terrific build for suits but he doesn’t like calling attention to himself so he feels awkward in them and since he doesn’t wear it often he feels uncomfortable. I admit i have a less overall fit for a suit but i break them in. I get used to them for how I’ll walk, stand, sit, pose, dance, etc. plus i just like that i stand out and people take notice.

My grandfather was a tailor most his life and much as what you say here, he would agree with. He also was a very sharp dresser, his suits fit him very well and suitable. Great video and thank you.

I watched this after buying a couple of new suit jackets for the first time. Something so simple as removing tack stitching from the back vents was something I didn't notice. Glad I watched this before wearing. Thanks Antonio!
  • My first job interview was at a fitness center for a lifeguard position. It would have been very weird to wear a suit in that situation. Mistake 5 hit the nail on the head. Perhaps you could do a video on alternatives to suits for different types of interviews?
  • hey Antonio! I've been watching your content on and off since i was a freshman in highschool in 2012, but it wasnt until maybe a year ago that i went into my senior year of college that all of your knowledge and expertise really became applicable to my daily life. I wanted to say that I'm really thankful for having stumbled on your videos all those years ago. I hope you keep putting out all this great content and that you're successful in all your ventures!

I think it is a good idea to bring 1 or 2 people you trust with you when buying a suit. While you can get a good sense of what you like by looking at yourself in the mirror, it is always good to have someone there that knows you, knows your personality and can look at the suit on you and that is valuable. Sometimes, but not always, the guy working in the store will just be there to try and sell you something and he/she might just agree with whatever you say even if it might not look good or two items that might not work well together. One last thing, suit shopping is always fun whether you are the one buying or just going to support a family member or friend so enjoy it.

Mr. Centeno, I just want to thank you so much for what you have done for me this past year. I was dressing like a slob but I came across one of your videos one day and I got hooked! I started slow by going to value village and buying some jackets there and I became the best looking guy at my school. Girls started talking to me more and I'm a bigger guy, 230 pounds 5'9", so that doesn't happen to me a lot. I found my current girlfriend that way and she loves it when I dress up. You have really changed my perspective on men's fashion and how to send a message. From up here in Canada, thank you!

Thanks for a great video. That first one about using your gut instinct is so true. When I've found the ideal suit I just know it. Brings a smile to my face when I am trying it on. Now I have a couple like that My old suits (that didn't do that) are going to the charity shop and I must remember never to buy "just ok" again
  • I love his videos because he’s knowledgeable, but not arrogant or cocky. He knows what he’s talking about and sharing to advise and help others great job! 💕
  • Well,...it looks like Mr. Centeno is going to top 2,000,000 million subscribers here in the next 30 minutes or so. Congratulations, Antonio!!!
  • I know I'm not your target audience here being a woman (and a mom) but a well dressed man admittedly is someone who demands respect and superiority, which is what women look for As far as women who wear suits, I think there's a lot of valuable information here, thank you for sharing. Love your channel. Xoxo
  • Regarding suit cloth I would recommend you do not go above Super120 for an everyday wear suit. The finer grade cloths feel and look great as they often have cashmere woven into them but they do not stand up to heavy wear. But my top tip to get decent wear out of a suit is ALWAYS buy two pairs of pants at the time of purchase.

This is a good guideline for people who want to learn more about suits and making suit purchases. Having a fit suit is definitely key since an expensive suit can still look bad if it looks too baggy on the wearer.
  • @Nolaperu
I love the work and detail you put into this video. Currently shopping for a suit, this answered all my questions. Thank you. I just subscribed.
  • @DomCOuano
I wore a suit to an interview for a job that requires an orange vest hahaha. The gentleman who interviewed me reviewed my resume with me, told me I was overqualified, and hired me anyway. Wore the same suit to the new hire orientation.

You've always got some brilliant advice! Thanks again for demystifying how to dress well and all the best!😎
  • @balluumm1
Excellent video! I also have to laugh when I see tacking left on or a sleeve label. A good indication of people with money and no idea of style.
