As part of the Remarkable Venue Awards, we thought it was important to take a moment to reflect on the unusual year that was but also all the exciting growth the travel industry has in store next year and beyond. We are bidding farewell to 2020 with some much-needed comedic relief with Simon’s address - "It Can Only Get Better: Culture through 2020-2030".

Simon became a travel editor for The Independent in 1994, soon afterwards he began presenting for BBC2’s Travel Show. In 2003 he became a regular presenter for the Holiday programme on BBC1, and in 2007 presented the last film in the final programme of the series, which had run for 37 years!

The Remarkable Venue Awards were established in 2017 to recognize and celebrate the best attractions and museums in the most-visited cities around the world. Since the first Remarkable Venue Awards, awards ceremonies have taken place annually in Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, New York, Paris, and Rome.

The 2020 Remarkable Venue Awards will be a global, online event on 9 December 2020 celebrating seven categories of awards in six countries: UK & Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United States.

The selection of the winning venues in the Best Attraction, Best Museum, Best Onsite Experiences, Most Remarkable Venue, and Best Landmark categories will be based on the more than 750,000 customer reviews of venues on Tiqets.com in the last year. All venues listed on Tiqets.com in these countries will be considered for these tourism awards, and all venues — whether you work with Tiqets or not — are encouraged to apply for our two new award categories: Best Hidden Gem and Most Innovative.
