At Dwelling Place, we strongly believe that our elderly citizens are among our community's greatest treasures. Although requiring care because of physical frailty or medical condition, we believe that they can continue to be active participants in our community. Dwelling Place strongly supports and promotes their right to enjoy a high quality of life.

Dwelling Place is a private community care facility that is built on the philosophy of providing care with Dignity, Comfort and Security. Its clientele ranges from those assessed at "IC1, IC2, and IC3" and is well known for excellent care of clients suffering from Alzheimer disease and other dementia-like conditions. It also provides respite care and palliative care for clients referred by VIHA and has had extensive experience in operating convalescent and activation beds for the VIHA.

Our Mission Statement: To provide quality professional care and, at all times, help preserve and respect the dignity of each individual. This we will deliver in a warm, compassionate, family home within a Godly mileu.

Our Facility: Dwelling Place was established in November 1992 with four beds and expanded to 13 beds in November 1996. Further developments completed in late 2007 increased the total bed capacity to 16.

The City of Nanaimo recognized the 1996 expansion of the facility by awarding it the City of Nanaimo Design Award in 1997.

The facility's size is well-suited for those clients who require individual attention and for those who prefer the homely atmosphere that is often missing in larger institutions.

Whether you want a home away from home, or intend to stay for a few days, a few months, or until space becomes available in a subsidized facility of your choice, Dwelling Place may have available beds for you. Click on [email protected] for availability.

Alternatively, if you are simply looking for a place to nourish your spiritual needs as you face the end stages of life, we have the right staff to assist you. You are guaranteed to receive quality professional nursing care in a safe and secure environment.

  • Hi Dwelling Place! This is Raymond Roldan--we stayed there in DP way back 1996 with the UP Concert Chorus. We have very fond memories of Dwelling Place and Nanaimo--this is where my wife (also former UPCC) Jeannelle and I started out being together. We got married 2003 and now we have two sons (Gian and Joseph).. Hi Tito Aurel & Tita Ching!! God bless :)
