We had from Crested Butte, CO up through some of Colorado's oldest Ghost towns to The Deadliest Pass in all of Colorado.

Schofield Pass Claims on average 17 lives each year and we had to see what this trail was all about. Rather than taking our 300's we decided to take our heavy bikes and make it as hard as possible

Most epic ride of my life, 1977 on Yamaha DT 175 two stroke from Crested Butte to Redstone thru Schofield Pass with my dad, i was 14 years old. Degree of difficulty was much higher back then. Plan to do it again with my 2 nephews who I race motocross with. I am now 59 and will attempt the ride on my new KTM 390 Adventure, can't wait!

I did this on a KLR 650 with all my camping gear, back in 1998. I don’t know what is more impressive: you on that heavy Adventure with street tires or your buddy with his girlfriend and big bags on the 390 doing that trail. I enjoyed the video very much. Thank you.

This kid and his girl on the 390. Legend's.

I rode this in 2018 on my 95 BMW R1100 GS. I lived in Marble then and rode that area a lot. Yes, it was heavy on that 1100 GS. And I didn’t do it again. Great video guys!

Ive done this pass in my Toyota FJ cruiser! Very technical in the FJ! The following year I was hiking it with a buddy and his family on the day when the guy on the ktm went into the devils punch bowl! We arrived as they were pulling the bike from the bowl! Thank God for his divine intervention that day!! I think next time I do it will be on my Honda XR650L. Great video!! Ride on!!

The 390 is an awesome motorcycle that doesn’t get the respect it should because it cost half the price of the other adventure KTMs. I just completed the continental divide trail from Mexico to Canada and it was flawless, it was great off-road and it was great on the road.
  • What a crazy, yet amazing ride. I've thought about doing that pass, but perhaps not by myself. Sweet video!

Awesome trip! What do you guys do in the winter? Is all off-road riding basically done until spring rolls round? Getting a 890 so wondering if I’m going to be spending 6 months a year looking at my bike in the garage ;)
  • 1. Never push Beau in, I'm sure he remembers things like karma! I really loved listening to that twin

Sick AF on all accounts... Two up riding! Street tires! Killer views! Rocks for days! Gnarly sidewall failure!

Buddy and I did this on the 790's last year. Gets really good after Punch Bowl. You did well young man! But you always do! 2 up on 390? If only could be young again!
  • I got stuck in some monsoon conditions on my Beemer K1600 that I put Conti Road Attack 3 tires on about 1000 miles ago. I was very worried about wet conditions but the tire did great! Even the cars were pulling over due to heavy rain and flooding on the Interstate. So the Continentals earned my respect at least on the street. Cool ride! Thanks for posting!

Some of that off camber rocky stuff with the cliff exposure - I was puckering up just watching it!

Great ride - sorry to hear about the flat! Had a similar experience (freak slice) in very rural western NC on a rather desolate forest service road. Random guy was rolling past on a Yamaha Zuma 125. Gave me a 30m ride to town where we purchased tire plugs and a bicycle pump, then gave me a lift back to my motorcycle. Serious generosity! Patched it up enough to limp it down to a wonderful valley where I sat next to a lake under the shade of a beautiful tree and watched a nice lazy fall afternoon pass while waiting for a friend to drive up with a trailer to fetch me.

Bad trail to take street tires out on, even to test them.... beauty day, beauty trail

Timeless, it'll never get old! What a ride!👍
  • Great video. Beautiful scenery. It answers some questions I have had about the capability of the KTM 390 Adventure as a light weight adventure bike.
  • That one was on my list to film, but didn't get the chance before we moved. You did an exceptional job for me, so thanks! Also, you are completely nuts doing that on those tires. I have no idea how you made it that far without getting a flat. Also, the two up crew get major props!

A dollar bill or the foil wrapper from a protein bar can stop a tube from blowing through a sidewall gash. Even at 100psi on a racing bicycle.
