What a great example, Cary Grant. Many need to go back to the respectable years when people cared to polish themselves before they showed up in public
-
The legendary Hollywood designer Edith Head also said that he was the best well dressed human being on Earth not referring to men or women. Even John F. Kennedy admitted that "every body wants to be Cary Grant".
-
My style hero and favorite actor. Agree with everything you highlighted.
-
There is also one detail that makes a person stylish and respectful and that is posture and gestures. The way Cary and many other greats stood, walked, did any moves and talked it was with grace, elegance, confidence and self respect. Without that a person even bespokly dressed would look like a simpleton. Sure acting school helps but only to a degree.

Cary Grant. Truly a sartorial icon. Before you go out, stop in front of the mirror and silently ask yourself, "Would Cary wear this?"
Cheers. -
Thank you so much for your delightful videos! Thanks for showing Cary Grant! The epitome of English elegance, friendliness and sheer style! He would be proud of you! I wish you a rewarding evening, Sir Elegance in Eloquence. 🙂 Giorgio

Another sartorial "hero" is actor WILLIAM POWELL. You may remember him from the "Thin Man" series of the thirties. If you search pictures of "William Powell actor elegant" you will see what I mean. The only drawback is that most of the pictures are in black/white.

As Alan Fluseer said, 'Style begins and ends with Cary Grant' .

What a wonderful homage to my favourite film star Ash. The words 'getting older is a gift which isn't afforded to everyone ' is a phrase I will keep with me.
In a documentary on Grant on BBC a couple of years ago it mentioned how his mother advised him if he only could afford one item of clothing to purchase the best siut available on his journey to the US. The fortunate fact for Mr Grant is, even outside of his style, Cary Grant would look dapper in a pair of overalls. -
Thanks Ash, a true icon.
-
Oh-yes! He really was the best dressed gentleman to ever grace the face of earth! Timeless elegance!! Thanks Ash, what a great episode it was!🙏
-
the quintescence of elegance, for sure !
-
That’s a great topic. Maybe theres room for other reviews of menswear style icons.

Interesting to take an icon from the golden era of Hollywood and draw inspiration for life-lessons.
I love the story of the Saville Row replica suits. Genius! Imagine only having one suit and spilling red wine all over it near the end of making a film.
It's a pity we can't post images of our favourite Cary Grant suits/looks here. Not sure if we can on the Patreon. Cheers, Ash. -
Cary Grant e' stato un vero signore dello schermo , elegante e raffinato.
Di questi personaggi oggi ne sentiamo la mancanza !!! -
Cary Grant - Iconic best dressed man of the 20th Century. Brilliant actor too.. Thank you for another great video Ash.🙏🫡

the thing about grant was that he was a man of his times , the 30's , 40's, 50's and very early 60's , he did nothing different from anyone else he wore what everyone else was wearing , but he had a way , his own self confidence awareness his swagger because it was in his era that almost all men were fairly well dressed only few knew how to wear what they wore well , grant kept it basic and simple , if you at grant , flynn , power , bogart , cooper , Sinatra , kelly , nevin , peck , arnez Lancaster , dauglas , Quinn , rathbone , mason , march , all of the old throw downs of that era knew how to dress hell even in casual wear they had a cool look

Losing weight has been expensive while watching your channel. Down 50 lbs with 15 to go. I will have to buy so much if I lose what I need to. Going from a XL to a medium isn't cheap.

Grant has a wonderfully classic image to emulate. As a heftier gent (125 lbs less so now), one of my vintage style icons is Jackie Gleason. He carried himself with grace and panache.

Indeed, style comes from within out
