#everybitcountschallenge Day 6! How we cook with Wood! Wood for the Cookstove! Dinner for Friends

Published 2024-08-06
In this YouTube video, join us as we stock up on firewood for the Every Bit Counts Challenge on our Alaska homestead. We rely on wood to cook on our wood Cookstove and to heat our home during the harsh winter months. Without it, we wouldn't be able to survive the cold temperatures.

Watch as we gather and chop firewood, showcasing the hard work and dedication it takes to ensure we have enough fuel to keep us warm throughout the winter.

But our efforts don't stop there. We also take the time to prepare a delicious meal for our neighbors, using the wood Cookstove to give you an idea of what to expect from our channel.

Join us on this journey as we demonstrate the importance of firewood in our daily lives and the joy of sharing a meal with those around us. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more homesteading adventures!

  • Thank you for another fantastic video. Your family processes everything that you harvest, hunt, fish, and raise. You have such an awesome life with everything that you do with and for your family. Thank you!

Hi Jessica, Aaron and sweet family! I miss the smell of the wood stove. We used to heat our house with a wood stove and we would cut wood all summer. We helped widowed women around here because they didn’t have anyone that could cut wood. My husband busted wood with an axe and every day he busted wood and I stacked it. I always got up first and would go down in the basement to load the wood stove before my husband or children woke up, I wanted them to be nice and warm. Then I would go upstairs and cook breakfast and make coffee. Your dinner looked delicious with all the fresh veggies and Aaron’s smoked pork loin. But that cake looked amazing. Have a very blessed night everyone!

Hi sweet one! Your dinner looked so delicious! I hope your friends enjoyed it! I know cutting all that wood makes you feel better about winter coming. I would be concerned about having enough, but I am a worrier...lol!!! Big hugs and many blessings!
  • You have done an amazing job on your garden. I live in Maryland and my garden suffered this year. The heat killed my tomato plants. I got vine boars and Wilt killed my tomato plant. Also, now I’m picking squash bugs off my cucumbers. I wish I could grow some celery and onions. Your onions are beautiful.
  • Hello Jessica and AaronπŸ‘‹. Cutting and splitting wood is a lot of work but there is nothing like the heat you get from burning wood. That meal as usual looked delicious. We brine a lot of our meats. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed dayβœŒοΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  • Ohhh the reminders of cooler weather are closer than one can imagine. Today Eastern Ohio weather is hot and humid, not at all reminiscent of autumn! Your gathering room windows showcase such a spectacular view. I'd lose productivity by just spending time looking out over the lake for hours!! Your meal looks so summery and delicious. But anything Aaron smokes is award winning. Until our next visit.... Keep those home fires burning. ❀ Momma G
  • I really like the different view you’re providing viewers when you food prep from your kitchen table. I liked the other way too, but the change up is nice
