I hate to be that guy but at least it looks like most of this comment section agrees, Flannel doesn’t know enough about hockey to be talking hockey.
  • @xRyeBredx
"What would you have liked Steve Yzerman to do" Flannel: Idk, but he has to be better 🤦‍♂️. Dude is representing all of the Wing bandwagoners.
  • @LolMoga
Lol Lyon is the only reason they had a shot at a spot at all, Flannels an idiot
  • @Migmaw
Flannel is clueless, his views are more plaid than argyle 🤣 The season wasn't a failure, It's time everyone shake off their feelings and look at the facts! If and it's a big IF the Wings managed to make the playoffs this year it would've been icing on a cake that is still not baked in the middle, edible but not done. Next year is the year, go back through the comments over the year on this channel and you'll see at the trade deadline everyone was upset Stevie didn't bet the farm and then I said the Wings aren't a bet the farm team yet. If the wings do not make the playoffs next year it will be a failure because the core knows how to lose now. Scotty Bowman has said you can't win until you learn how to lose. What's that mean? It means the season before last the wings collapsed during the stretch and they lost a lot and didn't know how to overcome or deal with it. This year that happened mid season and the Wings figured it out and learned what it takes to get out of a really bad slump, so now they know what it takes and they were right there when statistically of you look at all the other playoff teams the Wings shouldn't even have been that close. The wings do not have a 1C a starter goalie and need a couple more pieces. Now next year if they Miss the playoffs I'd be shocked and they should have Kasper, Edvinson and Possibly Johansson and maybe Mazur and Cossa and hopefully Bergeren gets full time. Stay blessed 👊🏼 DMac has been saying from day 1 trust the Yzerplan and it'll take 5 years, why listen to a 4 time Stanley Cup winner I guess

I can't stand this guy. I had to shut it off. Please replace him.

Alex Lyon is pretty far from ass.. he was a big reason why the Wings were still in the mix. I think he got a bit overplayed. I don't think this year was a failure at all. I wanted meaningful games in April, thats exactly what I got. Sure it sucks to miss playoffs, only by a hair. Steve Yzerman knows what hes doing. This year was exactly what where we should be. Alot of folks have zero patience when it comes to hockey. It takes more time than the other major sports groups. Yzerplan chugging along right on schedule. We were the best team to miss the playoffs, gotta go throught the middle to get to the top. LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘

While Flannel was talking I was more interested in the clouds passing by in the window of that truck outside

Sam Flannel has more personality in his clothing than he does internally. Dude is dry as the Sahara desert.

So the wings were not close to the playoffs in the 2022-2023 season and in one season they’d overtake all those other teams for the playoffs? Yzerman did not guarantee playoffs, there are no guarantees with rebuilds. This past 2023-24 wings team got 11 more points than the 2022-23 team.
  • i’m just super excited about next season! Flannel ripping on the goalies…..there are no goalies to choose from! lol and then to say you cant lose against the sharks and these bottom of the barrel teams……all the best teams in the league have lost to these teams a few times this season!! what are you even talking about?lolol Redwings are not stanley cup ‘ready’ , so stop expecting them to be. LGRW! season 24/25 here we come, and it’s gonna be a fucking fight!
  • @RobVrabel
Get DMac back ... not even 3 mins in and im already shutting it off cause this guy is literally brain dead. Someone that doesnt watch games and just looks at stats and standings at the end of the year. Lyon is far from ass. 8 and 46 together the majority of the year was awful and every time they were on the ice together something happened. Holl was more than fine when he played, for what ever reason the coaches were happy not splitting up 8 and 46. The best thing that happened to 46 this year was Wallman getting hurt so he could play with Edvinsson. My take may be wrong but i felt like if the wings had to ride Husso like they did Lyon they would not have been anywhere close to where they were to the playoffs this year. Reimer was a solid backup and its easy to criticize some goals but he always battled. This team is way better today than they were 3-5 years ago. They arent going to go from under 80 points to a playoff spot in the snap of a finger and they gave it a hell of a chance. The season was not a failure... it was a big step forward. Give this guy his final paycheque and wave as he walks out my god.

I feel bad for Flannel sometimes. That "batting 1.000" comment was definitely a strawman and probably not strictly necessary. He says a lot of the things most of us want to just shove under the rug, and while there are some things that come out of the left field in his mouth for sure (Lyon wasn't ass, he was just inconsistent), a lot of things he says has merit to it too. I think it's ok to be a mixture of Sam and Neal, where you can clearly see the ways this team can be better while also believing that they will indeed get better in due time.
  • @TheG35coupe
This rant is not really well thought out. At the end of last season, the RW departed with Hagg. Hronek, Lindstrom and Osterle. The Hronek trade was to get a 1st round pick, which is always a gamble bc not all 1st rounds turn out so well (ie Zadina). The others Dmen needed to be replaced, and it's really comes down to who is available as a Free Agent and fits into a team-friendly salary. Perry and Holl are no home-runs, but you have to work with the what's available
  • @caderickman6478
Can flannel stop looking around so much can’t even concentrate on what he’s saying
  • Can someone tell me who the fuck else was available to sign? Were we a for sure top FA draw in Detroit at the time? Why is this argument never made?
  • @Migmaw
I can't wait till next year so I can come in the chat and see everyones switch up 🤣
  • @tylertyler8782
Season wasn’t a 100% success or failure…..but I’d say since Yzermams signed Kane. I believe that was Yzermans indication that this team was ready for the playoffs & so thought Kane. Kane doesn’t sound like a player returning and if he doesn’t return…….. Expect this team’s offense to regress noticeably & playoffs being a long shot for next year……… First thing Yzerman should do is buyout Petry and Holl contracts ( or trade if possible) Copp traded. To get back cap space. Because all three of theee players are over paid in relation to their production/stats are terrible & replace them with players who can compliment our core ( via detailed pro-scouting). Probably can keep everyone else & Yzerman should draft another goalie or two and Defense prospects. Obviously most importantly lock up Raymond and Seider long term and try to convince Kane to sign a 3 year contract.
