Put on your good headphones, turn on Closed Captioning, and make sure you aren't French.

Late in the summer of 1356, the oldest son of England’s King, Edward the Third, Edward the Black Prince, led a small army from Bordeaux deep into the French King’s realm, almost exactly ten years after the humiliating defeat of the French at Crecy in 1346.

The coins featured are:

(1) a silver groat, or fourpence, of King Edward III of England, from the Baron Ian Stewartby collection, in good very fine / almost extremely fine condition.

(2) a gold Franc à cheval of King Jean II (John II) of France, in mint state. This was the first franc. It was introduced in 1360 to pay the Ransom of King John II of France. This coin secured the king's freedom and showed him on a richly decorated horse earning it the name franc à cheval (meaning "free on horse" in French).

The scene of the last French knight standing beside his King, knowing there is no hope for him, and dying by the enemy’s sword is very powerful
  • @NickSibz
This is actually more brutal/gory than about 95% of movie depictions of war. Epic.
  • @PakistanPranks
These camera angles and the whole animation was absolutely the best stop motion I have ever seen
  • @vmsh9810
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that this guy sacrifices his awesome lego collection just to give us the highest quality content?
  • @openthinker6562
6:56 “Oh shit” “Indeed” The most English response to incoming doom ever.
  • @Fulda376
DEATH COUNTS English: 53 dead French: 174 dead (also civillians) in equal, 227 minifigure heads, torso, arms, legs and armour were sacrificed for this wonderful stop motion, great respect to him!
  • @AVoxintheVoid
That was one of the single best videos I've ever seen on youtube. If you ever make another I would be honoured to help with voice acting! All the best, Vox
  • @Philhamm
Now THIS is the content my 12 year old Lego-castle-building self would have craved. It is also, coincidentally, the content I crave as a grown-ass 29 year old man!
  • Nice to see more stop motion battles on YouTube. This was fantastic, I hope see more.
  • @matthews1082
Great show of key events, Warwick's archers shooting the flanks of the French Cavalry, and Captal De Buch leading the Cavalry behind the French.
  • Wow this was incredible! I love how you showed the quality in armor making a difference even in the intense melee, the armor of the Knights deflecting blows easily from the less armored Men-At-Arms as they get cut down. Really amazing work!
  • Man this reminds me to 2010 when youtube was filled with stop-motions... Great job!
  • @dusttheman
I really love how this really captures the brutality of medieval war.
  • This is one of the best stop motion videos I've seen. I love the commitment, most people wouldn't cut up their mini figs like you did.
  • @LCMhistory
Man! We've missed you! Welcome back! Amazing animation!

  • Wow!! Some people forgot how brutal medieval fighting was. You deserve an Oscar for this amazing video :O
  • @1speedracer3_51
This is one of the best battle scenes I've ever seen. Not just in Lego.
