So Yeah. We went to a "Buffer" - Cool right? Thank you to the team at the UN buffer zone for allowing us access to film and document this truly unique location that few people get to see up close and personal. Thanks Marek for hosting us and all to cool Cypriot peeps we met along the way! Where would you like me to go to next?
  • @sagarbhadva1118
Bro no way you used the 2015 copyright free music here 💀
  • @malliarosmark
Guys Cypriot here , we actually used to go and smoke weed in the Buffer Zone in our teens because no police from either side came over there. Also there is a village near Larnaca that is completely inside the buffer zone so that gives ground to a lot of tomfoolery
  • @jimmyryan5880
the danish guy had no reaction, it's like you told him you were going to the post office.

11:53 At least Greeks and Turks can agree on how much they love cats 😻🇬🇷🇨

I love these Geography Go videos. I remember watching the Middle East series (Bahrain/Saudi Arabia/Qatar/UAE) and just being both in awe and intrigued as to how each of those countries looked and felt.
  • @BernhardEhm
back then, when Barbs was 2 Years old, the Cypriot Buffer Zone was my Playground for over 2 Years, when i served for the UN Forces, Memories - lots of Memories
  • @Amedovici
I am literally at the UN buffer zone in the Cyrus right now
  • @kart962
Thanks Barb for checking out the north I was literally just at the Kermia Crossing. The village of Pyla is a point where people can cross and see the north, south, residential un buffer zone and the UK territory at the same time. My village akincilar / lourugina also required special permission to enter from even the north until a few years ago and is the furthest souththern point of the north.
  • @FairyCRat
I also crossed at Ledra street with my family when we were on vacation in Cyprus, I kinda had to push everyone to do it, since our Greek Cypriot guide didn't look too eager to go there.
  • @erdemsoyer4553
Awesome video!! Another fun fact, there is also an old massive hotel in the buffer zone! The Ledra Palace Hotel! Obviously it hasnt been used as a hotel since 1974, currently used by the UN as a hub! Love the video!
  • @sarmadijaz
Barbs, dude, it was one of my wishes to see this part of Cyprus! Setting aside the allegiances, and the decades-long conflict, this is quite the place to be in and see, for a geography enthusiast like me. To have you covering it in the form of Vlog is even more special! One of the best videos by you, till date! 😀👌🏻
  • @divarachelenvy
This was awesme Barbs, cheers... I love how you keep it so straight forward...
  • @gemini82Q
Well done Barbs, you've put a huge smile on my face! I'm lucky enough to say that very soon I'm starting my one year long tour of duty in Un peacekeeping force in Cyprus, hence staying in the UNPA and visits to an old airport will be something regular and usual to me. Now, because of your video, I feel even more privileged than the rest, not just for the opportunity of being a part of UN force but more as a person allowed to enter where most people do not enter. I'm huge fan of your channel from Serbia, really liked the Serbian episode. It was flammable, just as anything related to us :). To bad we didn't meet in buffer zone. Keep up the good work!
  • @spastheghost
If this is how the channel evolves after the country episodes are finished I’m so freaking excited for it. I love learning about places like this
  • @Mladjasmilic
5:50 Serbia has many off-shore accounts in Cyprus. It is also in good terms with both Greece and Turkey.
  • @joermnyc
Back in college two of my classmates, a Greek Cypriot and a Turk Cypriot (though his family moved to the mainland) wound up being really good friends. They both thought the fighting and the division were really bad and agreed the government of Turkey really needs to let the island (and the Turkish people living there) be its own thing.
  • @xlxDxlx
Thank you, I really enjoy these Geography Go videos and hope you continue them after all of the country episodes are finished. I imagine you have a lot of contacts all over the globe at this point so you could take us to a lot of places. Maybe even to that elusive, gigantic 7th continent.
  • @TrickiVicBB71
Watching these Geo Go videos reminds me of all the vloggers I used to watch 15 years ago on YouTube. Really enjoy these and do keep making them
  • @Ottoucan
