Chopped apple for the flock. Shamus gets some first. :) Shamus is a little red sex link hen that started life as a tiny "packing peanut" with the shipment of Silver-laced Wyandotte chicks that are also in this clip. We thought she was a little cockerel and named her Shamus. It stuck in spite of the gender change. :) The other 'players' are Argent, the rooster, Fat Mama, Annie Lee, and Molly.

The little red hen is Shamus. So-named because we thought she was a boy when she was a chick. She's the sweetest one in the bunch and lays the biggest eggs even though she's smaller than the others. All but one Wyandotte (black and white) and the rooster are gone now. They died a little over a year ago of unknown causes. :(

They seemed to prefer eating out of the cup until it was all gone then back to the plate. :)

My last two chickens were killed by a raccoon last night.  I had Argent, the Wyandotte rooster, and Annie Lee, a Wyandotte hen left as of 5/21/2015.  They wouldn't go in the coop last night and Argent was so big and mean that I couldn't see what was in there and get it out.  :(  R.I.P.
