Jakob was so focused on Kerr he drifted to force Josh wide, and that let Hocker, known for rail riding and biding his time, do his thing.

He’s gonna replay this race in his head for years

Improving your PB by nearly 3 seconds at the 1500m Olympic final to win Gold is the stuff of dreams 😲 Grats Hocker
  • Cole Hocker did what he was supposed to do, and that was focusing on winning the gold medal. 🏅
  • At 75 and having been a runner since I was 14, this is perhaps the greatest 1500 I have seen. Simply humbling.
  • @Playfulpat
Damn he basically paced everyone to their best races ever

Lots of people are hating on Ingebrigtsen, but if you look at the possible scenarios, none of them are in his favor. 1. He takes the front at the start like he did but uses too much energy; the only way he could win is if he stands out by a very big margin to the rest of the field. 2. He saves his energy and tries to win in the sprint, but he doesn't have the fastest finish. I think he ran very brave and can't blame himself for anything!
  • Cole Hocker with the win 🥇 in the 1500m!!! Ingebrigtsen not even on the podium. I was expecting Kerr (🥈) to win, but Hocker took off and Yared Nuguse kicked into over boost to steal the 3rd 🥉. What a shocking but glorious performance. Congratulations USA 🇺🇸 & UK 🇬🇧!

I was jumping up and down and screaming like crazy for Hocker. My 2 black labs didn't know what was going on so they started jumping up and down and barking like crazy. It was like the 3 of us all celebrating. Except in the end when it was over I couldn't high 5 them. So I just rubbed their heads.
  • Hocker needs to thank Kerr for forcing Ingebrigtsen wide allowing him to come through. What a race! Don't think anyone would've predicted Ingerbrigtsen missing the podium

I had a feeling Cole was going to win this and he did!!!! So happy for all three Americans in the top 5 finishers. Great race!!!
  • To be fair all around, without Jakob setting a record pace for 800 and keeping it honest, we'd never have had this terrific race. Give him credit for having the stones to take it out and make the field come get him. Hell of a run by the top 4.

Cole Hocker for the ultimate shocker with that amazing kick and an Olympic Record !!!!!
  • The fact that nobody is really talking about Stefan Nillessen is just crazy. Going into the Olympics his pb was 3:34,32. In the heats he ran a massive two second pb and in the final another pb of two seconds. As a dutchie i am really proud of him

I'm very surprised that this channel havent covered the 10.000 m final. Cheptegei did an amazing job. Would love to see a race breakdown on this channel ;)

You have to give Ingebrigtsen his flowers. That was ballsy and an EXTREMELY difficult way to win. He deserves all the respect
