The engines are not the same. Starting with MY ‘23 the V8 in the X7 M60i is the S68 engine, a true M Division engine. The one in the Rover is the V8 used in the old M50i X7. A little research will show big differences between the two.

Of course the Land Rover is going to have a smoother/quieter ride… it’s on non-run flat Pirelli all season tires while the BMW is on a winter set of wheels/tires that are RFT’s.

The Range Rover is the size of a Toronto apartment but costs less than a Toronto parking spot😂
  • That Range Rover has a very well thought out interior. It is also a little more luxurious but I like them both when it comes to interior design

The only downside of the x7 is the third-row size and storage capacity. Otherwise, it's the perfect 3-row SUV. The base xdrive40i is more than enough.

Both also have ZF 8 speed automatics. BMW builds their transmission under license while JLR buys theirs from ZF.

I think the Alpina XB7 would have been a better comparison with it being a bit more luxurious then the regular x7

Great review, but there are some significant technical differences between these two vehicles. The BMW X7 M60i actually gets the real full BMW M V-8 S68 engine vs. the Range Rover gets the BMW regular V-8 N63 engine. S=Sport. N=Normal. While the horsepower and torque might be similar, the X7 M60 S68 engine has over 300 different components. In addition, the gear ratios are different and the transmission is an M product that will take the X7 M60 into a whole different world. In fact, the same S68 engine is currently in the 2023/2024 BMW XM, the upcoming 2025 M5, 2024 X5 M60, and 2024 X6 M60. The X7 platform has been in production since 2018 and it is near the end of its cycle by 2025. However, the Range Rover was recently remodeled for 2023. Thus, in my opinion, it is hard to compare and contrast these two vehicles because of their significant age designs. The BMW M60 is an M ultimate driving machine while the Range Rover is a Gray Poupon. The BMW X7 M60 has an active anti-roll stabilizer that will keep this heavy long SAV balanced to fight the laws of physics during cornering, has active steering for better maneuvering in parking lots, and four-wheel steering for better U-turn ratio, something that Range Rover doesn’t have. They are both great cars. I’ve owned Range Rovers before, and they are full of issues, troubles, and problems. My last one was a 2020 Range Rover SV Autobiography. They depreciate hard, and at least in my experience, they never have been a good reliable car. If you want a Range Rover, don’t buy it, just lease it, that’s if the dealers can get off their high-horse. Most think highly of themselves. Lastly, the X7 does have an option for 7 passenger seat. The captain chairs are an option.

Owned an X7 M50i and M60i now and the engines are different as others have noted . M60i is fantastic

😂😂😂 that was very funny. Great intro and review 👍🏾👍🏾

Hey man. Awesome. Very detailed. Can you do a comparison video of the same spec Range Rover and the refreshed GLS . 🙏
  • @G82Watts
Range Rover is notorious for having issues. They look old now. Who still drives a range rover. Also in the comment section u sound very biased towards the Range. BMW just looks more new and has a cooler looking interior. Plus as others have noted has better performance
  • @Sergesedd22
Sam. I usually rock with u but this video has me second guessing your ability to truly compare vehicles. 🤔
