England is the most underachieving teams in history, hands down. For a country that claims to always have some of the best players in the world, they have very little to show for it. They had one win and two draws in group play against inferior opponents, and then barely scraped by Switzerland on penalties. And I'm saying this as a fan of the English team. I'm from the US, but have always considered the English team as my team to root for since the US team sucks.

Just for context, this is the first foreign soil Euros semi final since 1968... and the tournament only consisted of 4 teams. 66, 96 and 2020(1) all at Wembley that leaves a paltry WCs 1990 and 2018 as the only foreign soil semi finals prior to this tournament. This is now the third. Foreign soil, knock-out game, major nation near the top of its game is the invariable point of failure. We need to significantly improve to start winning those types of games to convert us from Pot 2 QF tournament team to one that can compete in the final 4 regularly
