Benzodiazepines Side Effects (& Very Important Consequences of Long-Term Use)

Benzodiazepines are a class of medication, often used to treat short-term anxiety conditions, including panic attacks and specific phobias. Some examples of Benzodiazepines include diazepam, lorazepam, and alprazolam. Benzodiazepines lead to generalized decreased neuronal activity, leading to characteristic signs and symptoms, which we discuss in this lesson.

I’m taking benzodiazepine over 30+ years. I’m finally weaning off three years ago. Talk about slow tapering. It is horrific, horrible, horrible, horrible experiences. The symptoms side effects withdrawal symptoms are in bearable.

@JJMedicine Many thanks 💙 for posting this important info. It's unreal gow many of my mom's symptoms may have been caused by Valium. Wish her Dr. or I would have known about it while she was alive. She basically had every single symptom! 😢

Yes, it can literally take years of misery to taper down from a high dose. And once you are done, you might get hammered with “paws” for who knows how long (post acute withdrawal symptoms). Some manage to do it faster, but most are just delusional, assuming they can do it quick, easy and fast. ER visits are waiting for you just around the corner. Sleep becomes nearly impossible and then the occasional seizure too. But everybody is different of course. There is also no med to be substituted like when doing heroin withdrawal or similar. This is the worst drug on the planet, if taken over prolonged periods of time in higher doses. If you are on it, try to stop it for three days as an experiment, and all hell will break loose! This stuff has been invented by demons in the deepest corners of hell 👿

I’ve been on diazepam for 10 years for chronic vertigo. I am 61. I gave up my career in 2015 because of the vertigo. I now am a horrible sleeper, have a much slower thought processing, lost a significant amount of muscle and have bouts of shallow breathing. I live alone and have become increasingly unable to do my yard and household tasks which leads to depression because I’ve always been very independent. I never put it together that this decline in my normal abilities could be caused by my vertigo medication. I’ve been on 10 mg every day for the last 10 years. After seeing this video, I don’t know where to start to stop taking this medication. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I have been on 12mg xanax for 20 years, and begining 2024 in new year i told myself its a new year for me. I stop taking on xanax. I dont have those side effect or withdrawal. But my doctor keeps subscriptions for 180 pills refilled every month. Now i have so many bottle sitting on my drawer. I dont think i will ever take them again. I didnt tell my doctor that i stop taking xanax and oxycotin medication. Some of my friends asked me for them and i gave it to them. I knows the feeling when i dont have them. I told them that they need to stop taking them like i did. Cold turkey style is the only way. I said if i died so be it. I put all my depended on God , so far i never thinking about it. Thank God that helped me to stop.

Maybe they should dispence it in a 7-day tapering dose pack. It seems people have been using it for years.
  • you forgot one of the most dangerous withdrawal symptom,: about 30 to 40% gone cold turkey , between 3 to 4rth day they experience EPILICTIC SEIZURE. although they are NOT eppiliptic the 3 to 4 day they experience EPILICTIC shock. I have 4 times that I'm the past I have
