  • Hi Stephen, me and the wife watch your videos regularly and on 9 minutes and 32 seconds in this video you stood in the exact spot that we scattered my dad’s ashes. I haven’t had chance to visit there for 12 months so thank you for this video it was nice to see it so up close ❤
  • I'm a Yorkshire lass and i absolutely love Whitby its so quirky and full of history and character

The only fossil you will find on Blackpool beach will be on a deck chair! Fantastic photo of the rainbow over the Tower in Feb 24 calendar.
  • Aww those kids were so polite and i loved how you interacted with them. Guess what, here's another subscriber. 😂❤
  • @no2embish
Ha ha people in Lytham say ‘I didn’t know I was so unfit until I moved to N.Yorkshire

What another fantastic vlog that you have recorded. I absolutely love Whitby, It was so kind of you to stop and speak to the children who were doing a survey, a lot of people nowadays just march straight past and ignore them. I heard the child's tone excitedly change when you told her that you were a You-Tuber. Also thanks for allowing us to read about how jet is formed and about the history of the abbey.

What an excellent video! Unsurprisingly, as they're all East Coast fishing ports, I felt like I was in Eyemouth during your opening shots, and much of the town centre feels like the streets around the harbour at Berwick-upon-Tweed! I don't often feel the urge to visit places based upon what I've seen in films - but I'm absolutely sold on this place - let me sort out my mobility scooter issues, and I'll be there!!

You should have gone in the church near the abbey ,it's absolutely unbelievable inside . Great video and Whitby will always be my fav place ,Blackpool apart.

Dear Stephen I think the things you are calling old lamp posts are capstans used for hauling in the old sailing ships. Normally seen today on the decks of ships such as car ferries, they just use to loop a rope around them and the pier hands would put spars into the square holes and turn them hauling in the rope and the ship.

Awesome video Stephen really love Whitby ..you've done a great job showing all the fine points of the harbour and the town in general. PS I'd back Whitby's seaguls against Blackpools any day....lol

Whitby Jet is famous. Its fossilised wood! They make jewelry out of it. Was used as a type of mourning jewelry. Also the seafood is yummy. I'm not a pie eater but a Scotch Egg with fresh-made English Mustard is my choice. Never buy a jar, get the powder and make the amount you want fresh! Its also cheaper and lasts longer (the powder) What lovely kids! What a beeoootiful blue sky! I hope they keep a Cardiac Arrest gizmo at the top of those steps! Thank you Stephen!

I spend a lot of time in Whitby during the summer as it is just down the road from Me. I fell in love with Whitby when My late parents used to take me and My Sister there when we were children plus I am a big Gothic horror fan too with of Whitby being partly the setting in Stokers Gothic Horror novel Dracula, Stoker stayed at a guest house on Royal Crescent Whitby, I do recall it was no 6 Royal Crescent although I could be wrong, he also spent a lot of time in the public Library and this is where he found a book about the principality of Walachia and in that book there was the mention of a certain Vlad Dracul. Yep I love Whitby, friendly people and Fish and Chips to die for from The Magpie Cafe. You should check out some of Frank Meadow Sutcliffes photos online Ste, some fantastic photos of everyday folk of Whitby back in the Victorian days you would love them.

Whale bones at 14:28 to the left. Great view from up there! If you time it correctly you can walk all the way on to Sandsend and back too. Charming little village.
