This game was really fun. A lot of references to English literature, references to Dystopian literature, themes about perception and memory, and of course the journey to discover your memories that the characters repressed and denied trying to cope.

So in my English class we are reading a book called "1984". I now realize this book (which was made like in 1950 something I think) is basically the original We Happy Few but darker, and edgier...a lot darker....

They should have a second game, arthur would be searching for his brother only to find out that joy had managed to spread to the rest of the world. Sally would be trying to raise her daughter only for her to get taken and she has to find a way to get her back. And ollie is just ollie being an epic character.

I like how it switches from “All we do is smile daily” to “we require smiles daily” and from “happiness became a choice” to “happiness is not a choice” Edit 2 years later: Holy cow thanks for 10k likes! Song still holds up to this day :)

2:26 just hits different when you’ve spent your life separated from reality, living in a constant dissociated state to avoid what’s really happening and what you’re really experiencing, pretending to be a normal happy person, and suddenly, your mind is clear and you can see everything around you the way it is.
