  • Imagine serving in an army that Hugo Boss designs your uniform and Ferdinand Porsche builds your tanks.

the fact that it's so readily admitted is especially impressive. The fact that the uniform can drag a complement from many unwilling lips simply because it goes too hard to be insulted, even if the people it was worn by were literal monsters, locks it in as the certified look.

Nazi Soldier 1: "Why did you join the army" Nazi Soldier 2: "For food" Nazi Soldier 3: "For the fatherland" Nazi Soldier 4: "For the uniform"

The fact they still look good today is a major indication of how good of a design it is when things can go out of fashion within a few years or even months.
  • That detail about typewriters being adjusted so that there was a ‘SS’ key surprised the heck out of me. Great research done here.
  • @urupanther
I do think the SS uniforms were superb! Probably the black color, definitely the silver accents, the armband added a touch of very distinguishable colors... but also: The boots! The hats! The leather coats! The capes! It all worked very well together.

Me: scrolling YouTube Video: Nazis have drip Me: Interesting.
  • the drip was so hard it was probably the top reasons to stay in the natzi army

Amon’s uniform in Schindlers List and Lt. Kotler’s in The Boy in The Striped Pajamas were STRIKING! The silhouette, the length of the jacket, that structured collar, the belt, so much attention to detail. Of course, can’t forget those boots. Just the sound those boots make is incredibly frightening, symbolizes so much power and control. Just imagine putting that uniform on, it would definitely mess with your psyche. You’d instantly feel superior. I wouldn’t know but it’s kind of obvious here..
  • Over-rated? nope, they are one of the most stylish uniforms out there. even after all these years people talk about how well designed they were.
  • @kzsalazar
Remove the evil backstory of the Nazis and just look at it as it is, it one of the best uniforms (if not THE best) ever hands down. It's classic and stands the test of time.
  • I live your statement/quote about politicians: "Politicians were just as bad then as they are now. They are not good at anything except making themselves look good at the expense of the public." In many countries, including the Netherlands where I come from, they often make an absolute bloody mess and the citizen often has to accept it. This is a very good video by the way. 👍🏻

A very good, informative and well made video. Thank you! Enjoyed watching and learning from you.
  • @pedroroque8681
Two reasons: Hitler had a designer’s and artist’s mind and they understood the power of well crafted religion-like branding.
  • @erikatamayo8919
Honestly, I think 1930s and 1940s fashion was very stylish in general. I can’t think of a single badly dressed man in the 1930s and 1940s. Women had some very stylish clothes in that time frame as well, but the men were especially handsome.

Just discovered your channel and quite glad I did. Can’t wait to see some more. That being said, I see the schultzstaffel (SS) uniforms as one of if not the most iconic military uniforms of the 20th century. As they seamlessly blend style, class and sophistication with a foreboding sense of terror and ruthlessness. Again, really enjoyed your video. Quite informative stuff. As I too was under the impression that the fashion house Hugo Boss was responsible for the designing of said uniforms prior to having watched your video. Anyways, thanks again and look forward to seeing more of your work.
