G&T Driving Vlog #2 - Channel Recap, Retro PC stuff, Downsizing, More Depressing stuff, etc.

Published 2023-09-08
Woah, it's been almost a year (for this format)! Surprisingly, I've had several requests to do another one of these. Let's talk channel updates, complain about feeling down about YouTube, retro PC gaming reminiscing, downsizing the collection, health stuff, and probably a lot more I'm not thinking of right now.

Don't be discouraged. Your content is really good and it's nice that you do so well to engage with your community. I try to come in when I can, but I do enjoy myself when I can watch your live streams and chat with you and everyone else in the comments. I know you're bummed out, but I hope you at least enjoy spending time with us. Hopefully things will turn around for you in the near future.

It's a tough crowd out there. Take care of yourself, if that makes you feel good, try those ideas, hit and a miss for now, but keep trying to hit. Personally, I'm at a point in life that even if I want, I can hardly spend 30-40 minutes watching something. That's why short content has been increasing. For the type of stuff you do, it's hard, no long play can fit in 10 minutes or less. I digress... you do you, but I always come here when I find the time, because it's the only channel I can pick a run of a game I enjoy, and watch it with commentary, it's a great combo.

Your channel is great Austin. I work at a drug laboratory and its often quiet enough that i can put a let's play on and have it keep me company while i work. Thank you!

I'm guilty of watching vids w/o commenting. Usually because I have them on the tv. But I'm still a fan. You have an authentic and chill vibe that is less and less common on YT in my experience. So I really appreciate that.

Hey Austin, I'm sorry to hear that your health and motivation for creating content are not in the best places right now. Having been a subscriber for several years now, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy your content, including each "season" of content type. You have a talent for both gaming and creating. I hope that you pursue what makes you happy and that which brings the most meaning to your life. Much love man.

Am sorry but just found your channel and I absolutely love your lets play and quick plays.

I know how you feel on the comments, those are what I look forward to on my videos but they don't come very often. I've just been lazy not leaving a comment on some of these videos or during the live streams, or I'll watch them to the end and it'll be late at night and I'll be too tired to say anything. There was a block of time where I wasn't really watching the videos though (it was during the Castlevania/Mega Man marathon as I'm not really into those two series) and after that I went on my first trip to Japan for two weeks so there was an immense amount of planning around that. I wish I could give you advice on getting bummed out/depressed on things but I'd be a massive hypocrite doing so. Definitely something I struggle with for sure so I know what it's like. Dealing with limited space and not feeling like you're hoarding stuff can be a challenge at times. My collection's definitely gotten to the point where the space I want to use for gaming is mostly maxed out (taking up both bedrooms in my apartment) and some of the larger things I never use have to start to go. It's definitely stressful and sometimes I feel like reorganizing the room is like playing Tetris except I'm always left with extra pieces at the end that I have to shove in a closet. Except now the closet space is mostly taken up too... I enjoyed hearing you talk things out and agree with the sentiment that you should do more of these style of videos. Also cool to see that giant Space Invaders machine at the arcade you went to. Funny enough I saw that same machine when I was in Osaka during my trip.

I enjoyed listening to this while driving today!

I'm useless at leaving comments because I often watch content via my big screen TV! I'd love to downsize a bit more because I look around at what I still have and I think 'This is ridiculous!' although I must admit it's a pretty awesome selection!

One of the perks of living in the middle of no where is the lack of traffic jams.

Hello Austin, just wanted to tell you that your content matters all around the world. I'm from Spain so maybe that fact can cheer you up a little :)
  • @baryonyx122
Man, heres YouTube: 1. The stuff i am passionate about gets 50 views. 2. The stuff i throw out as a joke in an hour gets 3000 in a day. Can hear you on motivation with all of this.
  • @garshanarny
Yep I watched to the end. You mentioned maybe some viewers are unable to comment because they could be watching on their console or something. In my case, I watch YouTube almost exclusively with Roku. It doesn't support commenting, of course. Just FYI, you're probably right, and that kind of situation is probably more common all the time. I hope you get a handle on your health. I'm having a little extra struggle myself lately, so it's easy to relate.

Your castlevania video/streams helped me to really enjoy those games and just relax while playing them.

Round 1 looks like a really fun place. We would never get anything like that where I live because I live in Jerkwater U.S.A. there's nothing here so it would be a pipedream to hope for a place like Round 1 here. Retro PC for me goes back as far as a game called Shrapnel on the Apple computer. I don't know if anyone here is old enough to know that game but that was a fun one. We never played for score, we just filled the screen with bullets to see how far we could get. Oregon Trail was another favorite when I was a kid. I also had a friend who owned a PC and we played some Dragon's Lair games on his PC, but he was mostly into Tex Murphy games and we played a lot of those. I'm not a content creator myself (I wish I was) so I don't have any ideas for you. I hope your channel grows so you're happy doing YouTube again.

I watched this whole entire thing and enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to make it :)

Hey Austin, a year already since the first one of these? Wow, how time flies. 🤘🏻:_gameplayPatchy3::_gameplayDoomGuy:

Hey Austin, I just want to say thank you for the content. I don't interact much at all, but your channels are one of my go-to's for falling asleep (I don't mean that in a bad way!) You have the voice for this platform, and I love your Megaman streams. Wasn't sure if you were going to do that again the end of this year or not. But I'm excited to see where you go with the channel, take the time you need.
