This is the first video in a new series of tutorials for new shooters and gun owners. Today we will cover how to safely load and unload a semi-auto pistol with just your hands, as well as loading with a loading assistant/speed loader. The instructor in this video is an Army vet with multiple professional firearms training certifications, over 35-years of experience with guns, and has been a professional firearms instructor in both military and civilian fields for over 7-years.

ALWAYS PLACE SAFETY FIRST DURING TRAINING!

1. Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
2. Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction at all times.
3. Do not point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
4. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.
5. Always positively identify your target before firing.
6. Be aware of what is in front, behind and to the sides of your target.
7. Use a holster when carrying a “loaded” handgun.
8. Keep firearms out of the reach of small children.
9. Always use the correct ammunition for your gun.
10. Train hard, stay safe and have fun!

Hi all. We hope this helps you in learning how to use a pistol safely and effectively. What other types of intro/101-level videos would you like to see?

As a firearms instructor, charged with training individuals in the safe handling of weapons, thanks for your video. Although basic in nature, the information presented is very important for everyone handling weapons to know. THANKS FOR EDUCATING...
  • I’ve never picked up a gun in my life, but when I do, I’ll know just a little better how to stay safe with it. Thanks

This voice is how all gun teachers should sound.

I just bought a 9mm today for home defense. It is my first handgun. I am thankful for your video as it gives me a basic knowledge on how to handle it. Thank you!

Like many others, I'm just entering the world of firearms so I'm trying to educate myself on all the basics. I've watched a bunch of videos but yours might be the best because it's extremely straightforward and you don't make newbies feel stupid about seemingly simple steps like how to press down the rounds into the magazine. Thank you!
  • @Jean-zz5lk
This is the best video I've seen with things broken down to newbie level

I recently acquired my Concealed Carry License in Florida, and although I am fairly proficient in the safe use of firearms, it’s always nice to get a professional refresher course in gun safety.

I have been around firearms for a while, and I have to admit that I like how you are so precise and consistent in instructing the basics. I find the concept of protecting your fingerprints from your shells reasonable to me.
  • This was absolutely the best beginner crash course in how to properly load and unload a gun
  • You sounding real sus with the no fingerprints on your bullets “Incase they are found at a crime scene” lol

Even as a seasoned shooter with my glock, I still watch this just to keep myself brushed up. Complacency kills❤️

Thank you for your thorough review. I haven't used my gun for 2 yrs due to Cancer treatments. I am now cancer free & finally able to rebuild my strength. I feel like a new owner & I am reviewing the basics before going to the range or carrying. Again, this was a great reintroduction that will help me to reaquaint myself with my 9MM Smith & Wesson M&P Shield

As someone who is doing as much research as I can about exercising my 2nd amendment right, you give So much helpful advice and don't make me feel bad about Not knowing these things BUT I AM TRYING!!!
  • I've never fired a gun in my life but I was curious about how a semi-auto functions. This was a very clear and detailed explanation that should be mandatory viewing for all new gun owners.

Thank you! I am a new gun owner and although I know much of what you taught, it was great to refresh the memory. So many great points you brought out. I appreciate you taking the time in a non condescending manner and just straight thru taught what needed to be taught. Again, thank you.

Excellent. My pistol experience is limited to the few times one of my friends has taken me to the local range. Due to Covid I had to wait six months to be fingerprinted at the county sheriff’s office for my Concealed Carry, which just arrived in the mail a few days ago. I’ll be going out with one of those previously mentioned friends this week to go pistol shopping. Thx for the well-done safety primer! Cheers from Washington state.

Excellent presentation. It's been a while since I've been to the range. This was a great refresher. Safety first. 👍🏼
