  • I take the test every fortnight in the morning before breakfast, for me it works fine. Your weight, daily walk after every meal for 20 minutes, and a controlled lifestyle. No medication at all.

I think it is important to see how much glucose the liver is making in the morning. In a well fasted state, check upon waking then in an hour or two. You may be surprized! Typically, mine may be 120 on waking then go as high as 160 a little later. No food.
  • I am type 2 on insulin. I check my blood sugar at different times, for different goals. 1. I need to know I am dosing the insulin right. So I check before meals. If my numbers are always high for several days I start adding a unit every few days until I'm happy with my fasting blood sugar levels. 2. I want to avoid eating foods that spike my blood sugar, So I test 1 hour after a meal. If I had 1/2 cup white rice in that meal and my blood sugar went too high after 1 hour , I might cut the rice to 1/4 cup, or change out the rice for something better. Once I had the meal severall times, and I know its not spiking my sugar, I can relax the post meal testing for known good meals.

How do you feel about the Dawn Phenomenon in the mornings?

Thank you very much for your info. 2 hours after meal method. I would like to know the exact meaning of 2 hours. Some doctors say 2 hours as we start eating, but some say 2 hours after the last mouthful has been eaten. The both timings make quite a big difference. Some people chew a lot and take much more time than others. I need at least 30-40minutes to finish my meals. Appreciated your reply.
