  • ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 was an exceptional recommendation. Neutral and capable of resolving new information in recordings that I listened to hundreds of times before with speakers that cost me twice as much decades ago. Never fatiguing, even at high volume levels. But ya gotta tolerate a substantial break-in period of the cone surround materials for the drivers to really come to life. Worth trying.
  • Got lucky last week and picked up the Sony SSCS5 for $69 through Amazon... Like New with damaged box. They came in with no issues and like new.
  • I totally agree that having multiple speaker sets gives you different tastes of sound. I usually have a minimum of 3 pairs at all times plus a subwoofer. I have heard many good things on your channel and others about the speakers you have recommended. Personally I build all my speakers so I can tune the sound to what I want but at the core I always have a pair of full range speakers, 3 ways and open baffles then change them out depending upon mood and type of music. This hobby can be a lot of fun if you do not get lost in the "I must have" high end speakers of the moment and give yourself variety. Thanks as always!
  • I like the notion that there is never enough of a good thing, and swapping gear in and out can put a little zing in your listening pleasure. Thanks for the great combo ideas and the electronic options to go along with them. Nice idea and keep smilin'.
  • Oooooh..... Thanks! Right now, I'm running a set of Q Acoustics 3030i's with a BlueSound Powernode, as well as KEF LS50 wireless (ver 1). They are very different combo's and sounds. My biggest surprise is how much I really love the 3030i's--I picked them up for $350 in Jan. The KEFS? $2100 back in 2019. Grab the 3030i's when they go on sale (usually over the Christmas holiday).
  • @punkish7
Could not agree with you more. I use headphones rather than speakers, and you're spot on, they reveal different aspects of a recording. In addition, sometimes you are simply in the mood for one sound signature over another
  • @grhaggerty
Sony owes you big time for all the great reviews you given what I think is their entry level speaker. I have never heard them myself.
  • @cnhhnc
I can't agree more. My house is starting to look like a warehouse. I have at least a couple of different speakers in each category. A lot of those include vintage as well. At the top? Vintage JBL L80ts and Boston Acoustics A-200 floorstanders. On the bottom the A Jones Pioneer 22s with matching center for the basement HT. Also in the basement for two channel, Advent Legacys (circa 1990) and KLH Model Sixes (the originals from the 70s). Office: Elac Debut B6 and Energy RC-10 (the higher series-Connoiseur). That's not all, of course, but certainly some of my goto!
  • @Feliciano12v
Awesome stuff. You are tempting me with those Elac DBR speakers.
  • Hi Guy I agree with you all the way, the first pair of speakers I've owned is large Advent loudspeaker, and also got these paradigm monitor 7 V2 , the Andrew Jones pioneer bookshelf speakers , the Elac Un-fi bookshelf speakers, Emotva B1+,, Klipsch speakers KG 4.2's and last but not list Mini Advent's, so more is better cause they All sounds Good , but being different 💯🔊🔊👍😁
  • My 1988 Polk RTA11TL’s, have been my flagships for a really long time now about 34 sonically enjoyable years. A Polk SW50, Cambridge Soundworks The Center Channel and Cambridge Soundworks Bi-pole/Di-pole rear surrounds. Movies are awesome, music is encompassing, and their a heritage system at it’s current age. I also have a Hsu 2.1 system connected to a Yamaha CD/Reciever CDX 30 for music that emanates music through the house.
  • I own a pair of ELAC Debut Reference speakers and I seriously don't want to listen to anything else. They are truly amazing; to me at least.
  • @davidhires7403
Great video idea. Love the comparison of warm vs exciting.
  • @BatteryAz1z
Yup. Got Dali Spektor 2's in the bedroom, for my home theater I have Elac UB5 fronts, UC5 center, Spektor 1's for front heights and B5.2's for surrounds, and for my desktop the Uni-Fi References. They're all good in their own way. Spektor 2's least fatiguing, the References by far the most detailed. The UB5's a good medium with great imaging and large sweet spot for dialogue.
  • @MrBurt1337
Hi Randy! Thanks for what you do for the community. Love the channel! So thank you. Great video! I’m in the market for temporary, cheap speakers for a Home Theater setup. Room is 15.5’x17’ and 8.5’ ceilings.. only a door to enter, so no open wall spaces. Room has sound treatments. Which of the $500 and $1000 speakers you talked about would you recommend for HT (if any)? I wouldn’t mind listening to music from time to time in there, but HT is the primary application. Thanks again!
  • @NeilBlanchard
The Elac BS41 has a very smooth and pretty flat frequency response - it has quite extended treble. And the bass is extended enough, that it doesn't miss all that much music without a sub. Most small speakers need a sub to hear the midbass.
