Shane is right about one thing. "Sallie is powerless with him. Demons get their power from belief, and fear. If you take that away however, then the Demon is powerless.

I think Sallie has a crush on Shane. Laughing at his jokes, saying she likes dancing when asked to dance by Shane and says "nice plan" when Shane threatens her to scare Ryan. Lol.

Incase no one checked, a Black dog running across your path can be a omen for death, amongst other things. Resembling a nocturnal creation. When the dog crossed in the begining, it was almost dusk and Shane and Ryan are going to a "demon" house. Just connections I made. LOVE YOUR CONTENT.
