The fact that he came off that type of injury to win MVP the following year and rush for over 2000 yards is incredible. I used to love watching him tear up defences, an absolute beast. Shame he never won a ring.
  • He did the one thing people think is impossible today... He won the MVP as a running back
  • He is the best pure runner I’ve ever seen. Really an old school bruiser with modern speed.

I personally never seen a athlete like him. Dude blew out his knee and came back and ran for 2000k and mvp. That’s legendary
  • I’m still mad about 9 yards short 😢 thank you for making the Vikings fun to watch no matter how bad we were in the decade you were here. It’s amazing to think what could’ve been if he didn’t have so many injuries.

I tore my ACL playing HS football the year after AP tore his. Seeing him comeback in the fashion that he did, gave 16 year old me motivation and hope to hit rehab as hard as possible and make a strong comeback. 11 years later and my knee is strong as ever! Thanks AP!
  • I remember watching this dude during his mvp season and it was genuinely incredible. It wasn’t ‘if’ AP was gonna bust a big run, it was when. Dude dragged a team with Christian Ponder as the QB to the playoffs 😭😭

I watched every single game of his career from his last year at Oklahoma to his final year in Purple. I've personally met the man and shaken his hand. I watched him break records and become the greatest of his time. Believe me, I know EXACTLY how good this man was. It needs to be known that in his 2012 season, he ran for 1,313 yards in the final 8 games of the season.

I don’t think his career was derailed by injuries, I think the injuries are a product of how good he was. He was a workhorse back for a team that for much of his career, didn’t have a quarterback, and in this era it is impossible to avoid injuries in that position. He was the whole offense. I would still pick him over any other running back though, he was incredible.
  • Dude was a horse collar tackle away from nearly 400 yards rushing in a single game. The best pure running back since Barry. Easy first ballot HoF.

He actually broke Eric Dickersons single season rushing record, but his long run near the end of the game against the Packers was called back due to an offensive penalty. I wish this legend won a ring. Peterson, Moss, Marino and Barry are a couple of the saddest endings because they never won a ring.

Everyone calls Marshawn Lynch beast mode but honestly AP is the definition of beast mode.

The greatest running back to have ever worn the Vikings jersey. You will be missed AP! Thank you for all those fun years of giving us hope.

I always really appreciate you guys bringing up the early childhood and the emphasis on “finding an outlet” as a result of trauma. It gives a very important perspective that most fans don’t think of.
  • Hardest hitting RB I can ever remember. Dude fought for the extra yard. His comeback from injury was truly amazing - wish he had gotten a SB appearance - he deserved it.

Adrian Peterson will always be one of my top favorite professional football players. Literally one of the only athletes that I have watched the highlights of their career. He did use to have an issue with ball security but was able to be self aware and improve immeasurably. It is not the fall that defines oneself, but the ensuing rise that one imbues within themselves.
  • He was still a serviceable rb after multiple knee surgeries in his mid 30’s. Even scoring a 90 yd td against the eagles. I think that says it all tbh. AP is one of the greatest genetic freaks in NFL history. He ran with an anger you don’t see in modern rbs.
  • I think the fact that he won MVP as an RB is the most incredible achievement of his career. Lifelong Vikings fan here.
