Cost of living is getting out of control.
  • I live in my car with my 4year old son. We recently hit our one year mark. We started this journey to escape his abusive father. After losing everything, I’m finally rebuilding and it feels AMAZING! We’ll be upgrading to a camper soon but I refuse to go back to apartment living now.

I chose to live in my car when my rent went up by $500. I was like, I’m not even about to play with y’all! 😂 it’s not for everyone…but it was the best decision I’ve made thus far! ❤
  • She said "I'm that one check away!" She's so right, this could be any of us. Gratitude for her sanity through this! 🙏🏽

ive been there 20 years ago, evicted everything in storage and living in motels for the summer with my kids. Its a humbling experience. It makes you see homeless people in a different light

As a daughter of Italian immigrants, I value and commend the Italian tradition that any unmarried child live at home until they marry. It seems the "American" way is 18 and out. I personally had relatives whose children never married but lived in the homestead until and after parents died. One has to wonder if many of the homeless have parents who could take them in but won't. How thankful I am that I was a product of this Italian tradition having lived at home until marriage at 32.
  • I used to live in my vehicle and it does break you down mentally but I was blessed to still have a job and I worked my way to a two half bathroom and three bedroom house. Just keep faith and keep working towards your dream

Two biggest things: being one check away AND not having support. How many times have we seen where people didn’t have money BUT they had family who took them in and helped them through those low points? Struggling financially is one thing but when you DON’T have support, that’s when it all falls apart. We can all take a moment to look at ourselves and ask could we be more supportive to those around us.
  • Mh heart goes out to this lady. We can send billions of dollars to foreign countries, yet our people are suffering. Basically, she’s asking for affordable housing, not a handout. You can tell she learned from her mistakes, and is a hard worker

My wife and I both work, live in our truck and bathe at local gyms. This is like what we're going through only I'm in Texas. Things will get better ❤

Shout out to the guy that gives her hugs. This is so important to mental health. Sending blessings to Shay for sharing her story.

The fact that our country allows this to happen so easily is a disgrace
  • shes is not the only one!!! this is becoming the norm...my husband has a full time job at FedEx and I work for circle K and we live in our car. My kids are grown now but yeah because of the inflation we work and live in our car. Thank for showing that this is how some of live....if things don't get better this WILL become the norm!
  • She's such a total sweetheart! She told her story with dignity and truth. Another awesome video! We're all cheering for her to win in life!
  • damn. i’m a spoiled brat. these videos hurt me cuz no one deserves to have to try so hard to survive, but y’all remind me that i’ve been given a lot by my mother and the world. i gotta start giving back in a more consistent way, for real.

I lived in my van for six months once. I stayed in a truck stop parking lot and got a gym membership. I was able to work out and shower for only $20 a month. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Nothing wrong with saving up some money to get back on your feet.
  • Im working and homeless myself. Living out of my car. I had two job offers rescinded at the last moment. I used a recruiter on the one job and an employment agency on the other. I will never trust anybody again to get me a job. Lost 7 weeks of income and now Im working a job that just slashed my hours from full to barely 17 per week. All it takes is a combination of things and you are screwed.
