Echoes of Wisdom is divisive, but I’m personally excited. Is this the game YOU’VE been wanting?

I'm glad they didn't just make Zelda a Link clone. I like that they are trying to have her play in a completely different way. Otherwise I think it would be a disservice to her character otherwise

lets be real, if Zelda used a sword and shield, more people would be complaining about it being "lazy" and just swapping sprites with Link, giving her a more unique playstyle is a good thing imo. I'm excited for the game

To be honest, this may be a game more faithful to old-school zelda than the recent 3d entries. I can imagine dungeons in this game containing "dungeon echoes" that are used to pick apart its puzzles and tackle the boss. That would be a decent analog to dungeon items. Tri looks like she/he is upgradeable. Meaning you can't make overpowered echoes right from the get go. And there are other possibilities as well to bring back classic ideas in a new way.

So earlier this year i played the gameboy games, and I've been kinda craving a modern 2D Zelda. It's different from what I was expecting, but I'm still very much looking forward to it

Honestly I am so hype for this. It would be like a Prime or 2D Metroid where you scanned an enemy and acquired powerups from it.

I’m very excited imo Some People want Zelda to use a sword but personally I prefer when Zelda is a cool ninja sheik or a magic user… Otherwise what even is the point of link existing if Zelda functions the same lol. I think link might also be playable late game but I wouldn’t bet on it

When I first saw Ganon I thought it was a remake of the very first game.

I see no point in sword wielding Zelda. As you said, that would be just a reskin. Zelda, a damsel in distress in most of the games, all of a sudden wielding a sword? She's not Samus you know, and there's no need in Link then. And by the way, combat in 2d Zelda games is not deep and is not primary focus of those games. So, this is fresh, this is new. I'm on board!

Many people are concerned or skeptic about Zelda EoW probably because they have had enough of the conventions-breaking, experimental gameplay approach seen in the Of the Wild games and instead they are craving the classic, unadulterated traditional Zelda gameplay of old now more than ever. I can understand the sentiment, but I want to think that making a Zelda-centered game where she plays different than Link will open up the possibility to have some level of dual gameplay in future mainline titles. Imagine a game where we play as either character, or both of them in different sections of the game, and get to experience different angles of the same story sort of like in the Oracle games. That would definitely be sick
  • I know that Zelda usually fights with a bow in most of her roles. In the trailer where the tri rod is shown in the top left corner there is more room for other items. Maybe she will get a bow in a dungeon later on in the game just like Link would because he would never start with it either.

I think this is a major win for the Zelda franchise. I personally can't wait to play it.

I don't know why people want Zelda to have a sword or play like Link at all and I don't know why some people propose that she should use a rapier. 1. Having her play completely different from Link allows her to be distinct and not just Girl Link. I think this gives her opportunities for future titles and utilization alongside Link. Zelda games often have a gimmick, and because of the Trirod, Zelda herself is not the gimmick in this game. If she was just Girl Link then the identity of the game would be connected to her gender rather than a prominent item/ability. 2. Rapiers are not a feminine sword nor are they lighter than a broadsword. One handed swords all require a lot of muscle and skill. Zelda has also never been seen with a rapier in the mainline series. TP Zelda was seen with a sword and Tetra had a sword but most Zeldas use magic or the Bow of Light which both TP Zelda and Tetra used as well (ST Zelda uses a sword kind of but it's through possession). Swords aren't really part of her identity as a character, so if she were to be given a weapon, a bow is more her style. 3. The 2D Zelda swordplay is not very complex in the first place. I usually get disappointed when unique items have almost no use outside of their dungeon, so a game that is focussed on an ability besides the sword is very interesting to me. I love the puzzles in Zelda games so a game that focussed on puzzles is definitely something I would like to play.

From the June Direct for me: 1. Zelda 2. MIO (love Ori and this looks very heavily inspired by Ori with a beautiful art style as well) 3. Metroid Prime 4 4. Mario and Luigi (never played series before) 5. Farmagia (get physical, XSEED always does a really, really good job with their physical releases; also brand new IP) 6. Dragon Quest 3 Remake (never played series before) There was no insane moment for me like Fire Emblem Engage or Kirby and the Forgotten Land moment though.

Did everyone expect Nintendo yo nake a new 3D Zelda with Zelda in Tears of Kingdom engine in just a year??! Geez, unrealistic expectations
  • Hi! I love the way you breakdown and discuss games, you are very well spoken and I learn a lot. The thing that separate you from others (on youtube) and make you shine is the positive energie you have and i`m sure you make lots of people happy. keep up the good work is appreciated 😊

when totk was about to come out ppl really wanted zelda to be playable, that would mean making a whole past hyrule for her part of the story. echoes of wisdom seems to me like a compromise of "we dont have the time to do that on the wild engine but we can do a 2d game for zelda to be playable", so I'm expecting some references to totk, and those void things to me seems like a reference to the depths, echoes seem to funcion like the sage companions+autobuild, so yea, the setting will probably also take a lot from that totk era
