@meadowlands1937 - The trombone 'player' 2 from the camera is not playing, most likely he is just holding the trombone so they look correct. There is no instruments missing but they are well short of what they should be at full strength. 4 Clarinets in a band that should have 8 or 9, 2 tubas in a band that should have 4, 2 horns in a band that should have 4! I believe that the rule books say they shouldn't be doing a Queen's Guard with any less than 35!

@noskcajluap There are 5 trombone players same as the other Guards bands. Here we have W02 Andrew Woods, the Band Sergeant Major and 4 others. Nothing missing and no replacements from other bands.

@noskcajluap Wonderful observation. Being vacation time I guess they couldn't find a functioning trombonist from another band. A recent view of the IG band shows the full 5 trombones, 4 euphonia etc. But still only 30 strong. And with only a drum-sergeant at the front. I can't disagree with your arguments about the size of the bands In an ideal world we wouldn't be hearing rumours of the dissolution of the Coldstream Guards either. Thanks for your acute eye.

I tried to figure out the logic in the days, Even months, even days or vice versa. But then I remembered : Ah, this is England, so there IS no logic"

Grenadier Guards Band doing a queens guard with 30 and having to get someone to hold a trombone because they only 4 trombones = Sad!
  • @stevie92able
Band doesn't count for the same regiment, the band comes under something different
