He purchased a barn from a metal building manufacturer. That is where the delay is. He stated that his contractor was able to start on time but asked that all material be on site first so he would incute the cost of putting his heavy equipment on site twice. His margin is not as big as you think and a half to full day of labor and fuel cuts his profit. It’s Hoovie’s role to make sure the materials are on site since he subcontracted the assembly to a third party. The blame is not on the contractor who he eluded was doing his home addition on time and budget.

If 100%payment is demanded for 100% delivery and not 100% of the materials are delivered, Lawyers will likely need to be involved.
  • @Nabeelco
Tyler, you NEVER pay in full for jobs like this! You pay 25% to start, 25% once all the materials are delivered and construction starts, 25% half way through, and 25% at sign-off, once they've fixed everything and you're happy. They will push you to pay that last 25% early, but you NEVER DO, you drag it out until it's 100% perfect! Because the moment you pay them you go to the bottom of the priority list.

A letter from your lawyer to the metal building manufacturer might help. Shocking that they would demand full payment to deliver a portion of the building. You need to tell us the name of the company so no one else gets ripped off.
  • @kobbetop
A classic move to make you pay in full and deliver almost nothing. This way the customer acts as a zero interest rate bank. In the meantime that money is used to pay bills on other things and then after months of waiting, maybe, they will continue this job. But they have no interest of doing so if they already got paid. And sometimes these companies go under and then it’s game over.

Tough break on the building. Hope it works out. When a company demands full payment like that and doesn’t leave the goods, there’s a strong chance they’re having financial issue and couldn’t get the materials.
  • @rwdplz1
You can find contractors all day, every day. Ones that actually do work? That's a tough one.

I put white sand down on all my soft muddy land. Overtime it works its way down under the topsoil and firms up your land without ruining your ability to grow grass.
  • @Rhinozzzz
Hoovie, make sure the building manufacturer gets his just due and NAME HIM!! THEY KNEW they didnt have the whole building ready to go, but wanted 100% of YOUR money upfront anyway. Your Spidey senses were alive and well when you were given the bum rush of payment in full B4 the truck was unloaded. You know this is true, because someone in the chain honestly TOLD you that there were others that were waiting for insulation ahead of you. I hope it all comes out OK, but they are bending you over right now! Love your place!!

Welcome to the club. I'm almost 14 months into a 6 month house build. The whole construction industry is worthless, about 92.76% shysters and excuses.
  • @amaris5145
Man that's my dream. Some nice land, peaceful and quiet, big old garage full of toys. Keep going hoovie I'm still watching! Always and forever one love ✊🏾

@Hoovie try to dry that wood frame in your future bedroom (you can see on the floor in 6:40 ). If the frame will soak more moisture it will expand and warp or even start to rot...
  • @lincolnmarklt
Hoovie always gets taken advantage of. This should be interesting.
  • Hoovie, thank you for updating us about the frustrating situation with your building. I truly hope this all comes together for you in January and that you aren’t somehow being taken advantage of by unscrupulous people. Demanding full payment up front, then delivering only those parts you showed us is pathetic. In my opinion, they should only require full payment if they were delivering the full building. I’m sorry you’re going through this and the muddy ground! I definitely agree you need to keep most of your fleet protected and away from the mud. Thanks again for sharing and of course please keep us posted on the progress. Hope your holiday was filled with April joy! 😄
  • Kudos to you for not calling out the supplier of the building…yet. That being said things sound shady with them especially since they did NOT deliver everything when paid in full. To me it’s a breach of contract. Perhaps when they realize the mouthpiece in your possession they will come to there senses, all others should be forewarned of this company’s practice.
  • I had no idea construction was that rough. Glad to see the home addition is going well though! Looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it completed

I bought a Morton Building. I had to wait 6 months for them to deliver the building. But once it arrived they had it assembled in just over a week. They didn't even ask for payment until later that month. They did an excellent job.
  • @DrBreezeAir
That's why I quit being an architect. Dealing with builders and contractors is just too frustrating. Not a single project was finished on time.
  • @tst6479
Dude, you are one busy man. Crazy how much you have going on constantly. Keep on keeping on Hoovie, you are a rockstar! The place is looking great. Look forward to seeing it completed.
