If you go to a poor country you are always at risk from either being scammed or robbed and possibly killed. The people in a wealthy country like the UK who are mugging young women are the most evil because they already have money and opportunities. They don't have to support a large family. When I lived in London all my female housemates were mugged and a female friend was beaten and stabbed. So, being overcharged isn't worth getting upset over and just be careful. I spent a lot of time in the Philippines and could never understand why it was so rare to get robbed, never heard of it. I knew how much a cop earned so always avoid them because they are very corrupt. and the waitress salary was shockingly low yet they are always laughing and enjoying life. I felt my bulging wallet and thought I have a years salary to waste on myself for a week and felt guilty. I never got overcharged or anything there. Thailand puts me off because of the scams and south America because of the violent robberies. Also, everyone wants to know about you, young and old. You won't be ignored like in western countries. The government is full of corruption and they use public money to send their kids to the US to be educated. They are also anti birth control so families are huge.

I do not trust them.Very sus. I will not be going there. What a mess

This is really not a scam. They are hustling and you chose to pay. You could have easily walked away or ignore them in most of the situations.
