This new addition is a win for everyone. That kangaroo tail looks like human fingerprint. This should save you some money. This could be another form of edge test besides the BESS. This is the kind of science I can believe in, proven sharpness! Thanks Baz.

Hey Baz, that was freakin amazing. I love facts that can be proved. So nice seeing the actual progression of the sharpening process.

I bought a model from Tomlov earlier in the year. It seems that most models are made by the same couple factories and just rebranded. When I get as close as possible the FoV is ~6mm so it has a pretty good optical zoom on it. Almost Outdoors55 level, but not the same picture quality. The only downside is once you get into the really high magnifications even the slightest turn on the focus ring makes a big adjustment so getting it perfectly into focus can be troubling. That is also where using the remote to take pictures really helps since pushing a button on the camera will move it out of focus. It is definitely neat to watch as you progress in the sharpening process to be able to exactly see what is happening to the edge and what each step is doing. They can help make a person better sharpener by more easily giving feedback that could take a really long time to learn otherwise.
  • Welcome to the fun of a microscope. It's too bad vevor didn't have a 3 lens model (andonstar, linkmicro, tomlov, etc but andonstar is the true manufacturer supplying all of em). The scope I have has similar magnification (about 2mm horizontal fov at max), might upgrade to 3 lens one day (or less likely to a metallurgical microscope... those are big bucks) Took a peak at Aus Amazon and it sure is slim pickings for high prices (Canada here, so more similar dollar) Never would have guessed roo leather looked like that. Thanks for the peek. Hope you have fun discovering with it and are able to help your business and YT channel. I don't think you'll have to guess anymore if a stropping can bring back an edge. I've been playing around with getting the apex to 'disappear' at that magnification when looking edge on. Still get a couple glints here and there, but making progress.

Seems t be actual ~325X.... 1200x+ on most light microscopes are oil immersion based, very close to the matter being observed.
