I react to Preach's first time experience with Guild Wars 2. If you haven't already seen it, his full video is here:    • My EYE OPENING First Day in Guild War...   I am aware he's already done more on the game since this, but this will probably be the only one I react to. I'm enjoying keeping up with his Guild Wars 2 journey!

I stream on Twitch at least every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday late night CST www.twitch.tv/ravenessae

I have been playing GW2 since it started casually and the game just gets better and I discover new things over the years. I like the fact that there are so many things you can do once you hit level 80. I'm glad they are using the horizontal progression model.

I've been looking for a GW2 vet to react and clarify any misconceptions as well as add additional info to Preaches run. Good stu

OMG this is the first time I heard an MMORPG YouTuber talk about Free Realms in a video, that game has a special place in my nostalgia part of the brain.

What I like about Preach's way of playing GW2 is that he shows GW2 his weak points. The developers should assume that the majority of new players are not brought to GW2 by friends, but because they are disappointed / frustrated / burned out by other games (WoW, SWToR, ESO etc.). If new players come from a toxic community, based on their experience, they probably won't be the first to ask the GW2 community for help. Therefore, as Preach said, adjusting the flow of information would be appropriate. Furthermore, the class overview should be renewed to also show where the classes are developing through the respective expansions, GW2 has made such good artworks for the individual elite specs.

I think he just did an update today. When he voice acts the dialogue it cracks me up.
  • I have been playing GW/GW2 for about 18 years now. Love GW2 ❤ it not perfect but best MMO out there. Best way for new players to learn the game is for them to join a friendly guild/s as most experienced players are willing to help newbies. This game has a friendly and helpful player base.
  • The difficulty’s with the gameplay for new players is the real deal 😅😅 I’m playing the game since the first release and I’m still struggling sometimes with remembering all the cues 😂

I never thought I'd hear someone else mention FREEREALMS holy shit! I remember loving that game haha, I was one of the lucky ones to get the 'lifetime sub' thing in the store before they removed it leaving only the reoccurring sub options for any premium content stuff or whatever it was. I had some really nice house lots people liked visiting. RIP Freerealms I thin someone made some revived version of it, but I haven't checked up on that in years. Damn you really threw me back for a blast from the past there
  • Truth. I've been playing GW2 since launch, and I only started to care about skins last year. First order of business, visit every heart and vendor and manually look for skins to unlock. =)) For years, I assumed I'll eventually unlock all skins without buying anything. But there are NPC-exclusive skins. Good thing is, the currency for these skins are easy to acquire. It's the rarer skins that are "expensive", or some behind 'quests'.
  • Enjoyed this! I was thinking about how in GW2 the massive influx of stuff kind of pressures you a bit to purchase more bag/bank slots, but it's not absolutely necessary, because you can instant transfer items neatly into your bank - while in ESO the restrictions on inventory space promotes nearly constant frustration. I don't know if Preach discovered the bank, but that's another one of my favorite features in any MMO (along with GW2's skin system, top notch). It keeps everything so much more nicely organized so you can spend more time enjoying the game. Meanwhile in FF14, I just end up selling and buying stacks of things whenever necessary - and having to stop at a bell to offload items to a retainer, I might forget which retainer is holding which things and ... it's not ideal.
  • the strange things you say the 'swith instance' do are actually a sign that the reasoning behind map population balance is probably well done. In a rough way for the player, for sure, but hey...you accepted and got a boon! :) Those funny things happen because of the timing of the player response to the warning, depending on how many click on it and when they do it. -Let's say there are 60 players on the map and 40 of them click it in a few seconds after it pops up, the loading screen start loading for them... -Now the system will try to move them to another instance which is almost full. Let's say the instance has room for 25 of them. The other 15 should go back to the old instance but wait...in the meanwhile 10 more people clicked the icon! -Now the system has 25 player willing to leave the old instance while only 10 did not click the button. Hopefully they will also do it soon. The loading screen seems to last longer while a new instance is created and the 25 players get redirected to it. But.... -In the meanwhile a group of 30 players just port in the old instance to do some stuff! Now the game has 40 people in the old instance while instantiating a new one for only 25? Change of Plans! Let's bring all them back to the old one as soon as possible XDXDXD Balancing things is never easy....believe me :)

Not gonna lie, I got back into the original Guild Wars trilogy and Eye of the North to unlock more skins and minis in the Hall of Monuments. Trying for a complete Destroyer weapon set, I only have the sword in my hall right now.

I hope preach makes a few alts so he can see the multiple paths/ I do not know which of the three facts he chose, but everyone loves tybalt from shadows, and i love serena from priory. add in different races have different starter stories. The Sylvari and Human paths if chosen well are a bit better than the norn ones.

5:32 I think most Guild Wars 2 players take it for granted nowadays, I wouldn't like having to go to an NPC to get my event rewards. 10:42 Skyscale was the mount that basically brought me back to the game, totally concur with the statement, 10/10 mounts.

As a WoW Veteran my biggest hurdle so far ist the vast variety of horizontel progression systems for gearing / getting ascended gear. I actualy dont know where to start, should i finish all Storylines first, or go for the Living World Seasons, or should i focus on Fractals first? I just started my Crafting process of my first weapon and im super confused on where to get the mats. But other then the complexity of said systems I realy enjoy the game so far. I'm a realy big fan of the Zone Events. They just make the World feel alive.
  • @EyesOfGehenna
In the roadmap that Anet just released they announced they'll be doing new fractals. I think Strikes replace Raids.

I've never play mmo before and I decided to play the genre and GW2 is the first mmo I try this year (few weeks ago) and not gonna lie, for someone who never play mmo feels like overwhelming about information. But GW2 is a great game because it doesn't have subscription which is convenient to me and so much things to do that never gets me bored. And when I have questions I can ask easily in chat, the community is very responsive and also kind haha. I didn't buy the expansion yet because I want to feel the base game first. GW2 is very overwhelming for new mmo players yet so beautiful.
  • @ChaosContrl
I hope they don't remove/replace fractals. They feel so mysterious, especially when working towards Ad Infinitum.
