    As a pre med student , Harvard, I met with the department head of Nutrition at the School of Medicine, telling him that it was a conflict of interest that he was the head of the department, yet was also on the sugar board.
    I was promptly asked to leave his office.
    That eye opening meeting resulted in my life-long dedication to educating others of how to achieve vitality and health radiance through diet and lifestyle.
    The next year I started a health teaching museum with other talented professionals who believed that young children were the target audience for health information.
    I am pleased to see that I have lived long enough to see an entire generation of health professionals who are brave and audacious enough to whistle blow in response to food crimes against humanity.

    When I was pregnant with my first child, I could not stand the smell of sugar for more than a year. I lost so much body fat and it stayed away effortlessly. The amount of food I required was less than half of what I’d normally ate. Whenever I ate something sweet, I’d take two bites and have sugar overload. It just didn’t taste good anymore. This kept up for years!

    Sadly, I allowed myself to eat more sugar (oddly, for social reasons) and the weight came back. Now I’m back to square one and have to figure this out with willpower. 😔
  • I am a 48 year old with Cerebral Palsy. I have been ambulatory since age 4. When I consume even the tiniest amount of sugar (less than a teaspoon), I experience paralysis. I can't move my arms or legs and my speech, which is otherwise completely normal becomes very impaired. We make all of our food from scratch now and I don't have a problem.

  • Stephen I discovered this Doctor 3 yrs ago after my GP told me I was pre diabetic. 3 yrs on my blood levels are completely normal and everyone tells me how good I look recently.     Dr. Lustig is my hero. His book Metabolical saved my life. None of the doctors told me that it was the food that I was eating. I went from 317 to 180 when I stopped eating sugar and ultra-processed foods.
  • I have been a physician for 50 years and have dealt with weight issues as have my kids and grand kids. For my entire life I have never heard this except for a few pieces here and there. It is a tragedy that we have not heard it. It makes such sense. I stumbled onto keto diet and lost weight and am able to manage diebetes without medication. I have given this to my entire family and will read the book. Thank you.
