  • Visited East Los this past Saturday. Walked around Whittier and Arizona, ate at Baja Tacos, bought stuff at the Commerce Center, rolled around Maravilla, and visited El Pino. Good weekend!
  • When I first heard of the group Cypress Hill, I honestly thought they were from Brooklyn. Brooklyn has a neighborhood called Cypress Hill and they also sampled Big Daddy Kane's voice from a song which mentions the neighborhood. They were definitely different. At that time, The West Coast had things on lock with Gangsta Rap. When I heard them rhyme in Spanish I was super amped up. I felt they embraced their culture and hood. Being Puertorican, I liked the fact that they mixed Latin rhythms with rap. They are Legends and future R&RHOFers. Respect. Big Up from Brooklyn.

I was in high school ( 90s ) when I first heard Cypress Hill , Black Sunday and The Chronic were the first rap albums I bought with my own money ..Live at The Fillmore in my opinion is one of the greatest live albums ever put out ..will forever love these dudes ..
  • I'm going to use this clip to talk about urban density with urban subculture to show the geographical differences within ethnic/racial groups. This is fire Revolt & Drink Champs. Telling ya'll stories is validating a lot of youth that are still ignored. Thank you.

I'm from Maywood and back in 97 I seen Cypress Hill at a house party in Bell,CA on Randolph st, at one point I remember seeing them in the front porch sitting on a couch drinking beers and smoking weed just talking, it was actually more like a hangout everyone was just chill even tho they were a Big deal already.
