Vernnon is old school Kauai. I grew up in Lihue. Dad worked for the Lihue sugar. It was an amazing time to grow up there. The different ethnicities made the culture special. People like Vernon are the real deal. The stories he tells are the same ones my elders told me. Epic Peter.

From this 70 yr old—thank you for taking me back home to Kauai and listening to “da stories” Headed back home in Oct 24 to see my 92 year old Mom and hear more stories. I’m going to look for Vernon for sure. I remember working for a $1 an hour picking pineapples…Viewers: this is the real Kaua’i tourists don’t get to see or hear about.

I used to work with an old Hawaiian/Japanese guy in Waikiki that would tell me all the old stories. Was an honor to hear and learn about Hawaii of old. More people need to capture these stories for history!!
