After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive in THE STRANGERS ― CHAPTER 1, the chilling first entry of this upcoming horror feature film series.

The couple: why are you doing this? The strangers: Because we’ve have been contracted for seven more sequels

"Because you were home" is still one of the most spine-tingling lines in horror.

2008 film still lives rent free in my head to this day. Not sure it really needed a remake, but I'm hyped

"Why are you doing this to us?" "So the studio's rights to this intellectual property don't expire."
  • Couldn’t leave well enough alone. The Strangers stands in my top 5 movies of all time. It’s spine-tingling nihilism. No reason, no justification. No backstory. No identities. “Because you were home.” I mean it’ll be entertaining but does anyone else feel that some things just don’t need sequels, prequels, etc. and that something can just stand on its own?

The first one was the most scariest movie I’ve ever seen. Scary because this can actually happen in real life.

The fact that they’re making “origin” movies to The Strangers proves they don’t understand what made the first one so scary.

The orignal still fkn chills me to the bone - this does not give off the same vibe at all.

those 2 kids on bikes will grow to become the dudes from Funny Games

Feels like I've seen this movie 1000 times and it's not even out yet.

The 2008 was so scary because most of the time didn't had background music, villains were always silent, and no jumpscares, it was more realistic.
  • I'm a Canadian, and I live in a remote city of British Columbia (border to idaho).Thats why I love these kind of movies which are set in a cabin, shotguns, motorbikes etc.
  • The fact ALL three parts were filmed back to back has me so curious how this will go. And Mads is so good at acting scared....fingers crossed

It's literally impossible for someone to be shrouded in that much darkness when they're literally standing at your front door.

He’s most likely not going to see this, but Froy was a good elementary-school friend of mine. In middle school we naturally drifted apart as he went on to attend a special performing-arts school (I actually found this out years later on Wikipedia lol, before that I just knew he no longer went to the same middle school as I did, was kinda worried about where he went 😂). He was a massively creative and imaginative kid and I remember a hell of a singer even back then. Through the years I read he got into some Disney shows and then today, here I am, scrolling through YouTube and finding out that he will be starring as a lead in a major studio film. Kudos, Froy, you deserve it!
