Shootout between the Mesa Boogie Triple Crown TC50 and the Mesa Boogie Mark V heads.

Please note the Mark V is running EL34 valves and is also running on 45 watts to make the comparison more fair to the Triple Crown 50.

Signal chain is:

PRS CE24 - Mesa Boogie TC50 or Mark V - Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8 - Focusrite Clarett 8pre - Logic Pro X - GGD Zilla (running an impulse of an oversized Zilla 4x12 loaded with Vintage 30's.)

Drum samples are from the GGD Invasion library.

The Mark V is my dream amp. I'll have it one day again

good demonstration of tones. the way you A/B'd them helped outline the differences. great video!
  • A fabulous video that displays your superb guitar playing style. Rock on, Man! πŸ‘

fantastic video! well done, as a long time owner and lover of the mark v, i think you did it justice in this video and I have also been an admirer of the TC, so I didn't hear anything in this that stops me from wanting to get one of those too!!!!!

Just ordered a Mark V 90 watt head today, and this video helped in the decision. Thanks so much.

Mark V preferred as the day is long. Tight mode on the TC-50 doesn’t come close to the Mark V’s scalpel. 🀘. I must have one.

Good demo! The TC-50 rackmount just became known to me, has all the features I want. Here the Mark V sounds a little more defined and tight in Channel 3 comparison

Both sounds killer. The TC with a middle bark that mixes very well in the track and the IV with that inner low mid growl. Nice Ilha das Cobras background pic.

I would settle for any of those tones. Awesome.

Wow, great comparison between those 2 giants! I prefer the TC-50 in general but the Mark V is no slouch.
  • Great job, I love the sound of both amps, with a little preference for the TC-50 which has a darker sound. Beautiful guitar, btw, and very nice riffs!

Excellent demo, I just picked up a TC-50, I play mostly classic rock and lower gain stuff, I preferred the TC on Ch 2 which is where I live most of the time. The V had more clarity and definition in Ch 3

Both are wonderful but I love the snarl and colour in the voicing of the TC50. The Mark V seems a bit more direct and drier, probably wonderful for recording.
  • Just stunning, lost for words. Tone for days - awesome..................Thank you for posting. Need a lottery win bad lol :-)

Great comparison! really good tight playing. Must take some time to record/edit this. I feel like the TC ch3 sits a bit between a Mark and a Recto. Don't know if you find this?!
  • @jongonzalez6917
Surprisingly (to me), I preferred the Mark V tones in this video.

Great mesa face off ! Both sound good. How do you like the Clarett interface ? Good reliability ?
