I love this game so much. Absolutely recommend you get it and play it for yourself. Thank you so much to everyone who joined me for this stream <3

I love the gag with the elevator. The Narrator getting increasingly snarky and sarcastic at repeatedly using the elevator until he decides to celebrate you as a narrative genius. I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the original.

Game release: 2013 Achievement: Don't play for 5 years Ultra Deluxe announced: 2018 They planned this all along
  • @plasmabasher
I love how in endings where you follow the Narrator’s instructions, Stanley is described to feel like he’s ‘finally experiencing free will’ but when you disobey the narrator and do your own thing, Stanley is branded as anything but a free thinker.

So, brief story. I got my dad this game for christmas a bit ago and he only started to play it today. His name is Jim. Needless to say, the Jim button freaked him out so bad he turned off the pc cause he thought it was spying on him.

There are many ways to experience the "Death of the author" concept, but only the Stanley Parable ties up the author and hands you a lead pipe to do it personally.
  • @lizzzylavender
I love that they had to rewrite and re-record literally every line in the main game to include the bucket as well. So much work for such a small joke, I love it.
  • @amani3190
I love the transition of “It’s merely a bucket.” to “This is my friend, Bucket!” to “WHERE IS MY FRIEND, BUCKET?!” LMAO
  • @eighttree9562
I will say, that bucket model is extremely well-made. The handle moves when you walk, and they even got the scratches and galvanized steel finish correct. What an amazing bucket.

Fun fact: throughout this stream the name “Stanley” was said by the narrator 373 times. I know because I counted. Yes it was painful and yes I’m glad it’s over.
  • So fun fact, in the Playstation edition the area with the "Steam" reveiws have had the word Steam hastily scrubbed off and "Pressurised Water" slapped over the top of it.
  • @spidey1100
"Stanley was fat, and ugly, and really, really stupid." My fucking sides. It's the joke equivelant of a sucker punch to the jaw.
  • god the way the line "Stanley, don't do that, I can't follow you there." is said makes it my favorite bit of dialogue in any game i've ever played
  • @sorio99
RT accidentally stumbling on a major plot thread because his computer glitched up is maybe the most perfect way for this game to work.
  • @weeb_dweeb
Narrator: this is a bucket Stanley: dear god... Narrator: there's more Stanley: yes!
  • @nyarg33
i think the "everything is a bucket" ending might just be my favorite ending. apart from the broom closet ending, of course
  • it's funny, you know, when the 'jim' button schtick came up for me, I DID do as the narrator asked, I closed my eyes, cleared my mind, and truly imagined what it would be like to be someone named Jim. I abandoned my ego, embraced a new presence and personality, truly took a step out of myself and imagined an entire existence wherein my truest possible self was one who was named 'Jim'. Then I pressed the button, and... Well, it was pretty cool.
  • Here's one stupidly simplified way I've found to express this whole experience: The Stanley Parable asked "am I real" from the perspective of Stanley The Stanley Parable Deluxe Edition stated "It is real to me" from the perspective of the narrator...also there was a bucket
  • @ceoofbased3619
"and she backflipped all the way back to work" best thing I've ever heard in my life with the best ending
  • @egcart4957
I forgot how much I love the narrators personality. He’s such a likable character depending on your actions. Funny, sarcastic, well written. His sarcasm feels genuine and kinda wholesome depending on your route, and not like he’s a completely unsympathetic psycho like most “funny characters” in modern games
