Thank God you posted this video. I was about to buy a gt3rs tomorrow, but after seeing this im gonna stay with my opel corsa
  • @H.A.R.D.I.K
I understand from dealer perspective, but when you spend 2+ million a year and still cant buy the car you want sounds like a absolute scam.
  • @Iwo26
I walked into a Porsche dealer in California looking to order just 911S. Salesman didn't even get up from behind the desk and started a conversation with "you know there is a markup." I left without a word. I can afford to buy a new 911, but I will never pay markup on anything.

Thank you for finally shedding some light onto this scumbag industry. I waited 9 years, worked hard, saved my money, invested wisely, just to buy a gt3 rs. Walked into the dealership and got laughed out the door by scumbags like this.

I had the SAME THING when i went to buy a Ford Fiesta! I had to buy 2 Coffees before he sold me the car!!Shocking.🤣

I worked at a US Porsche dealer when the first 996 turbo dropped in 2000. Porsche reps came into the office and demanded to see the Purchase and Sale Agreement. They would’ve pulled the franchise if it was sold over list, or we refused to show the paperwork. The times they are a changing….
  • @brothatwasepic
I honestly had no idea that you can't walk into a dealership and buy the car of your choice
  • @known3617
This is why I love BMW, they make insane performance vehicles and you can walk right on in and spec out whatever you want, pay for it and pick it up in a few months. My M8 comp has been nothing but bliss.

It actually took me almost two thirds of the way through this video to realise that you made this whole video just to show Jayne to convince her that paying over list was the best thing to do. Well played Mark, well played sir...
  • @chrissmith-gn8pv
Marks now banned from buying a car from every porsche dealer in the uk 😂😂😂
  • @Quanters
I love this series and it’s been a real eye opener. Keep it coming and well done Mark

Here's a summary of the video's content: Introduction: Mark McCann sets out to buy a Porsche GT3 RS, aiming to expose the secretive and exclusive world of supercar dealerships. He highlights the difficulty of purchasing limited edition supercars, which often requires being on a special "list" managed by dealerships. The List: McCann explains that to buy exotic, low-number cars like the Porsche GT3 RS, customers need to be on a dealership's list. This list is reserved for their best customers, who buy multiple cars annually, spending millions. These customers are considered brand ambassadors and have a better chance of purchasing rare supercars. Dealership Practices: Through his journey, McCann uncovers a web of potentially misleading practices by dealers. He finds that to qualify for the list, customers are often expected to buy several less desirable, high-volume models, which are likely to depreciate significantly. Personal Experience: McCann visits dealerships and contacts them over the phone, only to be met with the harsh reality that without a significant purchase history, securing a GT3 RS is nearly impossible. Dealerships require a history of buying multiple cars, sometimes with specific spending thresholds, without any guarantee of receiving a rare model. Overs and Contracts: The video discusses the concept of "overs," where customers sell newly purchased cars at a profit due to high demand. Dealerships attempt to prevent this by making customers sign contracts agreeing not to sell their cars within a certain period, under threat of being blacklisted. Customer Stories: McCann shares stories from customers who have tried to secure rare models by following dealerships' requirements, only to be left frustrated and financially worse off. These stories highlight the opaque and seemingly unfair system that benefits dealerships at the expense of passionate car enthusiasts. Conclusion: Despite his efforts and a significant personal history of Porsche ownership, McCann concludes that the system is flawed, with dealerships holding all the power. He criticizes the practice of selling dreams to customers without delivering, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the supercar purchasing process. TLDR: The video sheds light on the complex and often discouraging world of supercar dealerships, calling for a more straightforward and equitable system for car enthusiasts looking to purchase their dream cars.

Customers shouldn't have to grovel and beg by paying over MSPR. Consumers have power to vote with their dollars and we can put an end to these practices. Thanks for the video!

I love cars my whole life. I hate the industry and 99% of the people in it. Thank you Mark.
  • @enhanzhao
This culture with luxury car brands is the reason why I will keep my 86, STI, GR Corollas even if money wasn't a problem (I manage IT for multiple dealerships, Ive driven them all). Fun to drive? Yes. Repair and upgrade myself? Yes. Easily replaced? Yes. Imagine being rich enough to buy 10 Porsches and still being treated like trash by the business that you keep afloat by being a customer.
  • @Mtsiagbe
This is a brilliant series btw, we all know it happens. Glad someone is filming it.
  • @shonen84
The Swiss luxury watch brands - especially Rolex - have done this for years…it’s eerily similar. Thanks Mark for your journalism!
  • Turns out car dealerships aren't only cheesing the average Joe but also the rich lol
  • @TheCarGuysTV
Really brilliant, well-produced video. Congratulations guys.

A few years ago I went to a Porsche dealership to configure a Targa. The salesman didn't seem at all interested in making a sale and couldn't even be bothered to find out when a slot would be available. I left and didn't come back. Watching videos like this really makes me re-evaluate my attitude towards this brand. Essentially appreciate the engineering and stay well clear of corporate which to me means 2nd hand market only. But I appreciate the pickle people wanting and being able to afford a GT3 find themselves in. It's not good for the brand image if they have to shove cars down people's throats while dangling a carrot in front of their eyes.
