In defense of seeing so many old characters die, it made the story that much more serious. It created the sense that no one was safe, and they truly were fighting for their lives at the darkest hour. Truly one of the best animated films ever made.

"It's the year 2005..." I never realized this was a historical movie.

"Coronation, Starscream. This is bad comedy" One of the coldest lines in an animation movie. Nimoy delivered that line perfectly.

You gotta understand. I was a child when I saw this movie. First time I ever saw autobots die. First time I saw Optimus prime die. First time I heard curse words in a cartoon. First time I heard heavy metal in the background of a movie. It had a massive profound effect on me. I will never forget this movie so long as I live.

I'm so happy that all of us genuine Transformers fans thought around the same time "Fuck it, I wanna watch the entire 1st Transformers movie." Truly one of the Greatest films of all time. TIL ALL ARE ONE!

I watched this in a theater as a kid and couldn’t believe that Transformers were dying, and then Optimus died. I was in complete disbelief. What a great movie.

When hot rod became rodimus, that scene still gives me goosebumps. More character development in that one scene than in all of rise of the beasts

Saw this in the theater when I was a little kid. Watching the autobots get slaughtered on the shuttle scarred me for life. Prowl's death in particular haunted me even more than Optimus Prime's and I cried when he died. Ironhide getting his head blown off, Spike saying "shit", Starscream getting disintegrated, Ultra Magnus getting blown to pieces.. my 10 year old mind was not ready for this.

This is one of the best cartoons thus far...timeless. Even the full-motion movies do not come close to how powerful this was in 1986, and the soundtrack is just phenomemal.

I'll never forget seeing this in a theater as a kid. Shed tears when Optimus died. These people had no idea how much those characters meant to kids back then, especially.

The first 30 minutes of this movie are JAM packed. -Unicron introducted -Decepticons invading Autobots City -A ton of Autobots/decepticons dying -Prime and Megatron fighting -Prime Dying -Megatron Dying -Galvatron being forms. This is all the FIRST THIRD of the movie.
