Put your quarter on the bezel and await your turn. A scene from Netflix's "Castlevania" featuring Trevor Belmont avoiding starvation, which apparently was cribbed from Castlevania 3 for NES. CORRECTION: The initial screenshot was created by Santiago Zapata (Slashing Dragon) of Slashware Interactive (slashwareint.com) as seen in this video, which he created:    • Castlevania Netflix Series as a NES game

The circle is complete an American anime of a Japanese game based European book using dozens of lore and myths from around the world

To be honest, for one coin that's a pretty nice hunk of jerky or whatever he's got.

This show completely surprised me. I didn't expect anything from it for being an adaptation of a game. But it turned out to be one of the best western cartoons I've ever seen.

This is how you make a reference. You don't force it into people's faces in a contrived manner, alienating everyone that isn't familiar with it. You weave it into the scene organically, just noticable enough for the observant few that are familiar with it.
  • I liked how Trevor started to gain info about the current situation of Gresit, it reminds me how in for example: Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, you walk and walk around all the towns gathering more info to make your adventure more easy (although due to the poor translation from japanese to english that information didn't helped so much). Also it may be a direct reference to one of the crucial aspects of a RPG, the dialogue between diverse characters. Also, realistic talking, it makes a lot of sense what Trevor does, if you want to be updated about the situation, ask others.

A reference that works as its own scene. I love this show.

This scene no doubt is a homage to the meat. Well okay. Realistically you wouldn't find meat that's been buried in the walls. But still, this is as close as it gets to the source material. Especially since meat replenishes your health in the games.

If that was a one ounce gold coin then that bit of dried goat just cost him over $1200 USD in 2017.
