I'm Moving

Wondering why things haven't been the same lately? I've been busy, and here's why...

This is my back deck. For the last two years we’ve done bike checks, experiments, and repairs here. This has sort of been like my workshop, except it’s extremely inconvenient for making videos.

Early in the morning it sounds like this. At the drop of a hat it can sound like this. This glass patio table is the closest thing I have to a work bench. Let’s not forget about the bike storage problem. Pulling out 4 bikes just to ride 1 gets old fast.

My wife and I have lived in this two bedroom townhouse for 3 years now, and we’re running out of space. Drama would also like a yard to pup around in. So a few months ago we started searching for a new home.

Originally it was going to be in Florida, but after a lengthy search it was clear that our priorities had changed. I moved to Florida almost 5 years ago, and it was the perfect place for a work from home web developer. At the time, it never occurred to me that I’d be making a living mountain biking.

Still, Florida has been pretty good to me. All the trails here are convenient and easy to film at. The builders here have made up for lack of elevation with ingenuity. When I’m not on the trails, it’s easy to find other fun things to make videos about. Still, it’s not quite ideal.

Last summer we visited Alaska and the Yukon Territory. If it were up to my wife we’d move to the Yukon and become Canadians, but that’s not so practical although Drama is French.

We even considered Bentonville, due to its low cost of living and amazing convenience. But Arkansas is too far from our friends and families.

To many of you guys it’s obvious that I should just move out West, but that’s only taking one factor into account. We needed to balance priorities like cost of living, weather, natural beauty, ease of air travel, and proximity to friends and family.

If only there were a beautiful, mountainous place, in a major metropolitan area, with its own airport, situated directly between Florida and New York. A place with relatively mild winters, and a significantly lower cost of living than Miami.

It’s now official. Is it any surprise that we’re moving to Asheville?

Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.

Really hurts seeing you leave Miami, It was the reason that I got into this channel since we rode the same trails and visited all the same places. When you did your street sessions it was always fun trying to figure out where the shot was taken at. Hopefully this wont ruin the luster for this channel. Best of luck, sad to see you go.
