Hey everybody! Thanks for watching this video on "The Best & Worst of Grammy Nominations (Album of the Year)". I worked super hard on this video -- getting all the data, doing the formulas, making the charts, getting the album covers, etc etc, hope you enjoyed it. I love these videos when I'm able to mix data and art. It's a weird little blend that I've always been fascinated by. Comment down below with your biggest Grammy snubs, what do you think the best year for nominations was, etc.

Grammy / Grammys / 2021 / Nominations / Album of the Year / Snub / Picks / Best / Win / Winners / Song / Record / Live / Reaction / Favorite / Choices / Predictions / 2020 / Billie / Lil Nas X / Fiona / Kacey / Taylor Swift / Macklemore / Kendrick / Excel / Charts / Graphs

People were curious about why I didn't really acknowledge Jacob Collier, so here we go -- I think he's a genius + he's one of the most talented musicians in the world. He deserves every ounce of his success and so on...but that doesn't mean that I enjoy listening to his music. He loves to make these veeeery complex arrangements with really strange harmonies, and that's just not really for me. I would never say that he's a bad musician or anything. I went through a phase in college when I was obsessed with people like him, Snarky Puppy, Lettuce, etc. The more complicated, the better. But that's just not really what I'm into right now. To each their own. Hope everyone has a good weekend + stay safe 💖

Let’s not forget when they flew out Mac Miller’s parents in the middle of their grieving period, just to see their son lose to Cardi...

The fact that Kendrick got snubbed 3 TIMES is insane
  • @noopSiesNife
Igor is such a masterful album, I wish it got more recognition
  • @ARC--eh5zt
the fact that kendrick has never won album of the year is both crazy and depressing
  • The fact that Michael Jackson didn’t win any grammys for the album “Bad”
  • @gddiggy3828
I died a little inside when I saw "Yummy" nominated for something Edit: At least it didn't win lmao
  • The main thing to take away from this video is how snubbed Kendrick is. He’s one of if not the best lyricist, rapper, and album creator of all time and is constantly being snubbed. Such a shame. 😔

The grammys were over when Prince didn't win album of the year with Purple Rain
  • The fact that Kendrick had 3 of the top 4 nominations for the decade and didn’t even win one is disgraceful

to be fair teenage dream had some of the biggest pop hits of the 2010's so I wouldn't call it forgettable

I think there's 3 criteria for AOTY -Fan love -Critical acclaim -Commercial success I feel like nominees have to have at least 2

but let's do not attack the artist who is winning cuz it's not his/her/their fault.
  • you know there's something wrong when "Yummy" gets nominated in the same category as "cardigan"
  • I was absolutely ecstatic when Random Access Memories won. By far one of my favorite albums musically of all time. The production was nails through and through and the percussion was flawless.

I think popularity should’ve been added as a factor to the graphing. An album can have good total scores but only reviewed 10 times while another album can have decent scores while reviewed 1,000 times just to simplify an example. I believe popularly volume amongst people matters just as much as whether or not they like the album

Kanye’s Dark Fantasy and Weeknd’s After Hours are the biggest snubs of the last 10 years for me
  • @eric_2311
They sucked when they decided to nominate Yummy instead Blinding Lights, why?

Most infamous Albums of the Year 2012: Should have been My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - went to Adele's 21 2016: Should have been To Pimp a Butterfly - went to Taylor Swift's 1989 2017: Should have been Lemonade - went to Adele's 25 Conclusion: Naming your album after a number = guaranteed AOTY
