OK, suggestions, unless you are willing to remove the vacuum line to the booster and the rubber seal so you can get a boroscope with right angle view in that hole to confirm that you have aligned the booster rod with the master cylinder piston doing it this way, then I would remove the fresh air intake and the section of plastic firewall in front of the master cylinder which also has the wiper motor bracket attachment. The rear bolts for this plastic piece are not too hard to access once you remove the fresh air intake box. Yes, this takes a little extra time but it give you direct frontal access to remove and install the master cyl correctly aligned with the rod. I ensure the booster has no vacuum to do this. I also run the driver seat back fully and use a piece of 2x3 or such between the seat and the brake pedal to partially press the pedal so the booster rod comes out a little further and is much easier to line up in the master cyl piston rod. DO NOT fully depress the brake pedal for this, halfway will be fine. Shame about the rest of the procedure not being mentioned (ABS bleeding with the Diagnostic tablet etc).

I have 2005 x5 V8 I’m not able to get pressure in back lines from master cylinder, in fact I’m not getting pressure from master cylinder which gets to back line , changed cylinder many times bought new one still not able to get back line pressure from master cylinder I’m fed up can u suggest something?

Hi..was doing the same job today...screwed up and didn't line up rod in the booster properly as a result it came off . Just wondering the procedure to set it back.
