We know that higher base power moves are generally better, but which moves are the best at their respective base power? You might be shocked to find out how many low base power moves are great competitively.

hey we can nerf U-Turn by making it 60 base power - Scizor probably
  • How could you choose all of these moves when you could’ve picked the ones I like!!! :(
  • @brieoconnor9824
Poison sting actually reached the top of the ladder on a gliscor set recently, it has a lot more more pp than sludge bomb or toxic and on an extreme stall team 30% chance to poison is plenty high enough

As a VGC player, fake out is one of the top 3 moves ever so it easily tops the 40 bp tier for us.
  • 6:47 grassy glide is actually 55 bp now, they nerfed it again before rillaboom got it in sv from 60 to 55. Idk if this changes the entry for 55bp or not, but grassy glide should have been at least considered there and not in 60bp

The thing I love the most about this is that he considers both singles and doubles.

Poison Sting does have a slight competitive use in Clodsire. Its high PP and lack of contact gives it an edge over Poison Jab. I'd also mention Poltergeist for its effect on physical Ghost types that can use it. It made physical Froslass viable and its absence in Dragapult's movepool is the only thing keeping it from being busted.

Crazy to see that from the very beginning even the lowest damage moves actually have some real bangers.
  • You forgot - base power moves. I’d like to believe it’s endeavor, rather than any OHKO move since it can make a level one Shuckle with minimal attack at minus 6 attack bring a Level 100 Blissey with 714 Hp at max hp be brought down to one Hp. If the game had to create a move with enough base power to do that, instead of just setting Blissey’s Hp to Shuckle’s Hp, it would probably be a very high base power. OHKO moves wouldn’t be able to get as high since they fail if the user is a lower level than the target.
  • I get how good u-turn is, but imo you should have at least mentioned flower trick
  • @Snt1_
Fake out is a better 40 BP move. Sure, its use in singles isnt that big, but its probably like the second most important doubles move (first ibviously being protect)
  • @RegrowRed
What about the moves with NO base power - you could go over all of the status moves for each type. Anyways, great video!
  • @gnome2323
I think you forgot beat up for 10 base power
  • @justdominik9812
For doubles most is true but fake out definitely takes the win, rage fist would have been better than last respects, 55 is definitely grassy glide (which is actually 55 base power not 60 as in the video), extremespeed would take the win for 80 base power, for 110 it would be origin pulse, I'd say astral barrage is probably going to be the better one for gen 9, for 150 water spout wins because Kyogre is just way too strong.
  • @migo1559
Why did you include seed flare among the drawback moves like glaive rush? It has slightly low accuracy and PP, but it has no real drawback
  • I was hoping to see fell stinger mentioned at 50 but there was some crazy competition.
