A Texas Ranger stationed in Austin exercised “poor judgment” in an incident where he pulled over and pointed his gun at a driver, DPS found.

"I felt my ego was in danger, so I pulled my gun."

The driver would've been completely in the right for fearing for his life and permanently retiring that tyrant.

Here's the thing: Unmarked vehicles SHOULD NEVER be used to conduct traffic stops. Period. There are too many stories about fake police to have the confidence you're being pulled over by legitimate police. In this case, if that Ranger had his gun out prior to contact - for a traffic stop - it sounds like termination is the corrective action.

Road rage much? If a civilian did this they would be in jail.

"I want him cited but there's nothing good to cite him for." This guy just explained decades of cop/citizen interaction techniques in five seconds.

“Discourteous”?! Pulling a gun on an innocent person is not “discourteous”!
  • If all it takes is a middle finger to get him to pull his gun and lie his a$$ off as a cop, he is far too unstable to be entrusted with authority. There needs to be zero tolerance for this rampant insanity.

“Policy infractions”... the guy stuck a gun in someone’s face... lock him up like you would any other American citizen

He gets to point a gun at a man and threaten him, lie his ass off about it, and keep his job. Think about all the times an officer has “adjusted the truth” to keep out of trouble.

I don't want officers defunded, but videos like this ensure that I never cry when they're "deleted" in the line of duty.

“Sideswiped my truck” but no damage to his truck. Then says he didn’t hit his truck or cross the center line. What a tool.

Once a law enforcement officer is caught lying, every case he has been involved in up until that time needs to be reinvestigated. EVERY...... CASE!!!

The old "my life was in danger" tactic; works every time

He needs to be fired and all of his arrest need to be reviewed.
  • The people that put lights on unmarked vehicles should be charged

"He sideswiped me." time passes... "He didn't strike my vehicle." Give me a break.

His poor ego got butt hurt when the driver flipped him off and dammit, he was going to show him who’s boss!!!

Still don’t understand how anybody would think that a person that gets THIS upset about somebody flipping them off deserves a badge and a gun.. lack of composure much?

My mother's stepfather was a retired Texas Ranger. He had a calm demeanor, was highly self disciplined and had a trim physique until the day he passed away. He was the toughest man I ever knew, but would literally give you the shirt off of his back. This current crop of " peace officers" generally speaking, aren't fit to even carry his shoes.
