  • Full PPE even at a car fire. I damaged my throat and lungs at a car fire resulting from a grass and woods fire that might have been a meth lab. Both myself and my partner went down due to toxic smoke. Had and beat throat cancer last year so you all protect yourselves at each and every fire.

A little trick I learned …. Put the nozzle of a dry chem extinguisher into a light fog pattern …. Watch how fast the gas is extinguished!!!
  • This looks unreal. Boots on the ground, fully geared up and water on target under 30 seconds. Awesome!

Nice job by the fire crews and officers. Started with water which puts out most car fires, that didn’t work. Quickly moved on to some in line foam/chem followed by regular foam which didn’t work. Foam is most useful on flammable liquids, which this clearly wasn’t. Finally succeeded with the dry chem extinguisher on the ev batteries. Good job getting the speedy dry down in front of the storm drain. Most rigs are only required to carry 1 dry chem extinguisher, fortunately they had enough units on site if they needed more dry chem extinguishers. FDNY has a dedicated purple k unit for electrical fires along with e bike and ev battery fires. Many local departments are starting to carry multiple dry chem extinguishers or contract with local fire extinguisher service companies to provide on scene delivery of larger quantities of these extinguishers when needed. Great video

Wow heavy response to a vehicle fire. The Engine crew did a great job on initial attack when they arrived.

Super quick charging of hose, best I have seen on Utube.

Move the engine away because of the gas fire...that's a good idea! Three or four years ago the station just a few blocks from my house lost the engine at a commercial structure fire. The building was a few feet above the level of the parking lot, all of the sudden some tank of flammable liquid inside the building failed and the burning liquid came pouring out of a roll-up door that was open and they were flowing water into. I talked to one of the VFF who was there. He said, with no warning of any kind, this wave of burning liquid came pouring out the door and they just dropped the hose lines and ran for their life's. There was no hope of saving the engine. So, moving the engine so it's no longer downhill of a flammable liquid fire, good move.

i've never seen it take so long to put out a car fire. Must have been a real stubborn battery. Once again, excellent footage from JSFR!!
  • @luish777
Good pump operator 👍 had that water flowing quick and the right time so hoses wouldn't get kinked good job men.

Although I’m not a fire fighter or have I ever has to deal with such an incident. Total credit to a superb looking job. Also fantastic video work.
  • @teamidris
That was odd. Never seen one that hard to put out. Once the bit you can’t reach with the hose gets red hot it will alway light back up instantly. The scrapers roll a burning car over with a fork truck to get all access.

In many fire videos, the start of extinguishing is really slow. This is due to the fire hydrant system and its failure, or bad ways of working, long distances. Europe and the Nordic countries, fire trucks have large water tanks and extinguishing foam for car fires. This achieves fast action, which is important to prevent the spread of fire. For example, we extinguish a car fire with foam in tens of seconds ... minutes. Of course, there are also differences in car fires, they can be difficult depending on the size of the car etc. In the majority of car fires, we put them out very quickly. In America, the car fire is turned off three times and still it starts up again...🙂 Additional training, equipment development, they would be needed in many fire stations in America.
  • This was an impressive response to a car fire. Where I come from, because of financial constraints, just one engine would have turned up.
  • @toddgay5161
Well thank goodness it appears all the firefighters in the neighbors and everybody safe so thank goodness for that but man wow I never seen the car fire last that long
  • @pkarmstrong1
Nice job with a very stubborn fire. I believe it is time for us American Firefighters to start carrying car fire Blankets.
  • Hony I think our new Tesla is on fire 🔥 😳 better call the insurance company. Great job guys, TMP from N.J.
  • @charlesbaker931
They did a great job knocking out the fire with the attack line. Looks like they had 2 lines on the fire in no time. Personally I would not placed the apparatus so close to the fire.It also appeared that the firefighters were not masked up full PPE should be used. Years ago we were not so concerned by eating some smoke. Best to be sale and save the lungs.
  • Car fires are always intense aren't they? As no fatalities were reported in this video, I can only pray that no-one was hurt, As always. the firefighters did an excellent job.
  • As soon as the truck stopped, men were in place and water was flowing. Great job.
