Once I was seven years old, my mama told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By 11 smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure
Once I was 11 years old, my daddy told me
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was 11 years old
I always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about the glory, just always seemed to bore me
'Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Once I was 20 years old
(Lukas Graham)
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
'Cause I know the smallest voices, they can make it major
I got my boys with me atleast those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave, I hope I'll see you later
Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
I was writing 'bout everything, I saw before me
Once I was 20 years old
Soon we'll be 30 years old, our songs have been sold
We've traveled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be 30 years old
I'm still learning about life
My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind
My brother I'm still sorry
Soon I'll be 60 years old, my daddy got 61
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
I made the man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit, once or twice a month
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be 60 years old
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can hold me
Soon I'll be 60 years old
Once I was seven years old, my mama told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
Once I was seven years old

Sad fact: We all were excited to grow up when we were children but when you know about what ur parents go or went through you realize it’s not fun growing up...
  • Ill just rant here. This song reminds me of my sister. When i was younger, my parents worked alot. my mom recently got out of a divorce, which was my sisters father, and then remarried in 2009 to my dad. I was born a year later, anyway. My mom was working 70 hours a week, and my dad worked in a different country. i never would see my parents. My brother had already moved out, and it was just my sister and i.She basically raised me, while she was going through highschool. In 2016, my parents stopped working so much, my sister was graduating. I didnt want her to leave, she was moving 4 hours away. As she walked out the door, i remembered all of our memories, this song was always playing when i cried. This was my favorite song, along with starships, and call me,maybe. I learned this song by heart, and my sister recorded me singing and sent it to my dad, who was in Russia working. It was hard moving on from my sister leaving. My moms sister died that year, which she did not come out of her room for a week. i barely ate. my dad wasnt at home, i didnt know how to cook. My sister would come visit me every 3 days. Later the same year, my grandma died infront of me, She told me; `Always hold those who you love the most close, you never know when they could dissapear.` that next day, we found her dead. My mom was already in a deep depression, i stayed with my sister for a week. I walked in on my sister crying, i sang this to her. I will never forget how much my sister raised me, i still feel guilty, as her teenage years were taken from her. Shes a mother of two kids now, but always remember, the closest ones to you could dissapear in a blink of an eye. Hug your animals, gaurdians, friends, ect. a little closer the next time you see them
