Bushcraft in the woods with my dog | Shelter, tracking, foraging and British military ration

Published 2024-04-29
Backpacking into the woods/forest with my Labrador, Finn, building a quick tarp/bivvie/poncho shelter in the rain, starting a fire and cooking a British military ration (MRE) on my Bushbox twig stove and hiking around and enjoying the outdoors.

Doing a bit of tracking with plenty of animal sign and looking for foraging opportunities.

I couldn't help but feel judged when I saw the still frame that is now the thumbnail. He's judging my very being.

British ration meals:
Porridge
Chicken curry with potato and rice
Orange cake

Equipment used:
British Army (DPM) poncho
Nite Ize Cam Jam XT Aluminium Cord Tightener
Karrimor SF Sabre 45
Labrador, yellow and stupid
Bushbox LF
GoPro Hero 11
TBS Boar EDC Mk III

Anyone taking their doggo in a camping trip will always get a thumbs up.
  • Finn is trying to help the water drain. Or trying to put in a pool. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Finn is off to a good start. I appreciate that you're training him instead of letting him nose around your meals. Once some of the puppy energy drains out of him you'll have a great calm companion for years to come.

  • When you said 'pretty good' that sounded so American lol Finn did a great job digging your chair out from under you
